Default Embala 450E FBL Build c/w BD3SX

Hi Folks,
Im new at this so please go easy. Im building an Embla 450E FBL with Bavarian Demon 3SX and Spektrum DSM2 satellites. The reason I have chosen the Embla is to have an FBL that was supported locally and it has many bits in common with my MTe325, so I could learn about FBL set up with the BD3SX before building a bigger machine and not have to start a new spares store while doing it.

The BD3SX was a bit big for the servo tray so I have added a 1.6mm plate to the tray to fit the foot print of the servo, also the Equipotential Bonding has been done and tested. The build is nearly finished, just need to CoG and mount blades and do the set up

Im sorry for the attachment format but I havent yet worked out how to add them to the post. If you would like a better view please have a look at my blog on this build where there is a bit more detail at:

http://marksdaspark.blogspot.com.au/...50e-build.html

Any constructive criticism greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards
mark

Default Maiden....Nearly

Hi Folks,
Did all the power on testing etc and ready for the maiden. I was running it all up slowly and checking controls. Its a new radio, new gyro and a new heli so I must admit the butterflys were busy. It was just to the point of waitlesness and had a very tiny drift left, nothing bad. So all up about a minute or less of engine run up I was just about to put it up and a puff of blue smoke. The motor had let out the magic smoke. I've tested it, and the ESC, and Im fairly confident that its the motor because it single poles in 2 different ESC. I will give my LHS a ring tomorrow and let them know. Im not sure how warranty works on this stuff but fingers crossed.
kind regards
mark

Default Embla Motor Swapped Warranty

Hi Folks,
I was very happy after talking to my LHS on the phone, the fritzed motor was a warranty job so I replaced it yesterday. I also bought a good swash levelling tool and digital pitch gauge. Both make it so much easier and take the guess work out. I had done it without them initially and was very very close, but the set up with them does give me a whole lot more confidence.
They have a couple of scorpion motors coming in through next week for the Embla so I might lash out.
kind regards
mark
