Default Been wanting to move up in size to 600

As above, but haven't done so because of the cost of buying new batteries, but since I can use my Protos 500 batteries, it's gonna make the transition alot less expensive. I'm noticing that other 600 class helis use the 5000mah batteries and the 6hv takes 2600-3300mah. Another thing that I like about this heli is a belt drive tail. Just wondering what ya'lls opinions are on how this heli stacks up to the other 600 class helis with the smaller batteries, belt drive tail, and/or any other considerations??

I too was considering a 600 size bird, a trex 600 was in my sights when a friend suggested I look at the Compass 6Hv so I checked out this form and saw that everyone who owned one was pretty happy with this bird so I went for it. I'll never forget my first flights it felt so agile like a 450 only much bigger. Have no regrets this 600 is now my favored so happy i went this rout i even turned my 550 into a night rig as i don't even bring it to the field anymore .

I've been looking at Nankin and they are showing a Compass 6HV Flybarless kit With ESC, Motor, And Blades. It doesn't say which motor and esc that it comes with. Anyone know?

Comes with the compass motor and a hobbywing 70hv esc. Both very good. (also the compass 615's are the best 600 size blades i've ever flown)

I used to have a Protos 500. Fantastic heli.

I sold it to fund a 6hv FBL kit. Mine is bone stock except for KBDD dampeners. It's just a fast and durable heli. I use 2600 and 3300 packs. It's the lightest in its class. Torque tubes are over rated. Belt drive is the way to go

I might be able to make it out Tuesday May 15th( 3-hour drive from here). Went to the website and It says that "must be Current member of AMA, EAA, AOPA, possess a Full Scale Pilot's License or be a guest of the aforementioned!" None of which I possess and don't know any members. Sounds like a great event though.

You won't regret getting a 6HV. It just works with no mods or fiddling around. The most you'll have to do (besides making sure everything has loctite) is size every ball link including the ones on the tail slider.
The motor is great, the ESC works great with the Vbar governor and as stated already, the blades are great.

I have a Trex 500 so that's why I went with 12s also. I'm running 2600, 3000 and 3300 packs on both. With the 6HV I can get 5:00 easily on the 2600 packs and only put about 70% back in them (if that much). I haven't tried to stretch the flight time, I just set my timer to 5:00 and take my time landing.
Granted I just do big air sport flying so of course your time will vary if you're slamming it around.

The original Align trex 600E used 1 x 6S 5000mah lipo but lacks power and reportedly was very hard on the batteries.. Most of the new 600 electrics are designed to run 12s (2 x 6S) or 10S (2x5S)and typically use 3000-4000mah lipos. The 700 typically electrics use 12S x 4000mah - 5000mah lipos..

In the case of the 6hv as you have probably noticed it has a low profile and will fit 2 x 2650-3300mah lipos under the canopy.. There are some 3700mah packs that fit under the canopy too. I have a sent of 4000/30C which I use for extended flight times to practice F3C stuff but without the canopy.

Being a smaller and lighter 600 size heli running slightly smaller batteries lowers the weight of the heli giving it better power to weight ratio than the other 600's i.e. Trex 600EFL Pro..

Its a great heli and flys extremely well in stock form (i.e. kits, blades, motor and ESC)..

Its time you hit the "Buy" button right about now..

I haven't even seen the manual yet. Searched around but I'm not seeing it. Where can I find it?

There's not much to the manual, really. When I was building mine I got more information from the build videos in Finless Bob's section and from the build videos that can be found in the sticky threads in the 6HV section.

I picked up my AMA membership, so I'm gonna head out to Joe Nall on Wednesday. If you're around, I'd like to check out your 6HV and watch it fly.

the frames are not much bigger then a 500
it really feels like some one put a beefy head and tail on a 500 frame then stuck 600mm blades on it
but that makes to stupid light too even with the 12S setup id bet it has better Watt/oz then any other heli even some 700s

Drop by Atlanta RC Club, I pm'ed you my email info. There are 2 6HVs in our club at the moment, 1 of them being mine. There are also 2x 3d Pluses, an Odin 90 and my 7HV. Others at my field are considering Compass Helicopter purchases in their near future.

I have been trying to hold out on any new heli purchases until later this year. Almost got it yesterday.
