Default JR 770 "I have the perfect (How To) setup

Ok after much work, frustration and expenditure I have figured out how to set up the 770 gyro properly. After reserching for many days and nights I found this "how to" on a hidden website out of North Korea. So without much further adew here is your step by step setup instructions.....

1. Find a live chicken! (frozen whole chicken will not work. I have tried). The gain setting cannot be adjusted properly without the chicken. I should state that before going further that if you are opposed to killing living animals you should go find yourself a different gyro.

2. Go to a old cemetary on a night of the full moon with your entire fleet of helicopters, All tools, field equipment, every member of your club and your dog. As a side note: dog must not eat chicken!

3. Once at the cemetary you must position your entire fleet of helicopters in a semi circle with the gyro in the middle with the helicopter that it will be installed. Now have one of your club members take your dog for a walk, its been awhile since he went.

4. Install gyro to helicopter on-site using "Shoe Goop" and nothing else. Gyro must be installed at the exact angle of the moon to the earths orbit on the cemetaries lat and long coordinates.

5. Now turn on your transmitter and reciever with the gyro plugged into the elevator channel and the rudder servo into the Aux 3 channel. Wait twenty seconds and power down. Now with your left hand spin the main rotor blades three times in each direction.

6. Now with the gyro installed pick up helicopter and point it at the full moon and set the travel adjust on the gyro (This must be done by you and you alone if someone helps make the adjustments while you hold the helicopter the piro rate will be faster to the left than the right).

7. Now set the helicopter on the ground facing away from the other helicopters and club members and let the chicken go. IF and only if the chicken comes over to the helicopter and pecks at the gyro has everything been done correctly. If the chicken does not peck the gyro then you will need to repeat this process on the next full moon.

8. Hopefully everthing has gone as planned and the chicken did its thing then you are good to go and you can fly the best gyro on the market with the best holding, piro rate and consistancy every 30 days on the full moon. The software does not support flying on non full moon days and will have wag, bounce, bob, and wieve on other days.

9. Now pack up all your stuff and take your club friends over to your house for fried chicken! (sorry chicken, you probably thought you were going to get out of this).

Well thats it. Easy stuff really once you get your head around what they are tying to tell you in the instructions.

Take care.

oh that's an easy fix

feed the chicken some pie and it should work fine after the chicken on the 770

Make sure your plastic control rod guides are not broken (or cracked)....
As soon as mine (especially the one closer to the tail) break - the tail starts to wag ...

I tried the same method on the GY401 but it didn't work. After several trial I replace the chicken with a duck and it works like a champ. Note: you have to chop the duck tail off to prevent it from wagging.

You need to rub the gyro with garlic, otherwise it will drift on sundays.

I was considering a sayonce of some sort , way off i guess .. lol

One thing to note that took me a long time to get figured.

401 instuctions are biased to work on a futaba radio. (0 lowstick , 50 mid , 100 high)
One would assume a JR gyro would hve JR biased instuctions .. NOT the case.

I had a wild wag on my 500 with the 770/9257 with a gain of 60% (dx7). I'm now at 23%

Seems to work very well.

A different approach though , and a different way of setting up.

Instead of setting up a for a piro rate (tx) and mech limits (gyro).

They set up the gyro for a full on max setting of 150% (piro -tx) then dual rate it down to reasonable (flyable) value. Then add expo to make the slightest movent on the rudder stick a blurr situation.

Once you get your thoughts around that it' not that bad really.

After that fully sinks in you come to realize that the way they set them up does have some benifits. To match the piro rates for left and right you will adjust the fast direction EPA on transmitter to match the other one.

WTF? You gotta be kidding right?

It aint that tuff and you dont need VOODOO to get it working! Every gyro out there has posts like this where people need an act of god (or a chicken) to get it working.

I just don't get posts like this many times and wonder what the heck folks are doing to have so much trouble with a SIMPLE gyro? But hey... Havent used my 770 yet but I have a chicken ready

Cut the chickens beak off first. The longer the pecker the more it wags.

I, like Finless, don't know what the all fuss is about. I set mine up exactly as described in the manual and mine is rock solid PERFECT! Oh yeah, that's on both my Trex500 and 600. Good luck though

If you are going to do Voodoo to get a gyro to work, can I have a Trex700N, that's more like it.
