Default What I been up to

I been quietly spending late nights again in my workshop.
Got my Milling-Machine all CNC converted ....now it's a 4-Axis Vertical Machining Center. Works great! ....it's always a treat to see a machine basically take a CAD drawing and turn it into a physical part.
Just some trick stuff to do now like a Pneumatically Raised/Lowered, Lexan Splash/Safety Shield.
My conversion process has been logged here: http://cncfusion.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=621

Yup ....I've had that Mill for the last 8-years and it's paid for itself many times over. The original intention back then was to convert it to CNC ......hehehe, it took eight years to finally get around to it

I have an old Bridgeport at home and a CNC bed mill at wok I can used for some jobs.

Both run often making heli parts!

I follow many of the posts on the CNC conversions, it would be nice to have one in my shop some day.

Been in my evil workshop again, into the wee hours of the morning, experimenting with a 1W GaN Laser Diode on my CNC Router/Engraver and must say, I'm quite impressed with the preliminary findings. It will engrave G10 and cut card-stock, vinyl, balsa and such.
Here's some shots of the my first experiments using it to make a card-stock valve gasket and engraving on a scrap of G10 .....BTW the mad-scientist goggles are a must with this bad-boy:

Just for giggles, I threw a 50x16mm R/C Wheel on the bed of my CNC Laser .....not too shabby, huh?

.....sometimes we just have too much time on our hands!
