Default Is there a better small 3d copter than the nano cpx?

I posted recently that my nano cpx is now not responding to transmitter spooling up at all and I didn't even have a single major crash. I was enjoying the copter and it was giving me good practice. I am going to try to repair whatever the issue is but I wonder is there a better small 3d copter out there that isn't too expensive?

Nope. Nothing that small.

A little bigger and not very friendly for indoors there are more options.

That's what I thought. I do have the 130x and I did successfully and stupidly I might add hover the 130 x in a pretty small space and thought I better stop this is just stupid and I'll be upset if I wreck this one so I stopped. I guess I'll just wait and repair than or maybe I should buy a backup nano hmm....things to ponder

Well, you are part correct...

I read wrong and answered the ProtoX...

But it is capable of flips and rolls...but only if you use a traxxas or hubsan transmitter

If indoor flying is your aim, OP...you just might consider a quad...lots of fun indoors and the abilities nowadays might astound you...

The NanoQX is a handful in Agility Mode but nice and tame indoors in Stability Mode

And it's a bit cheaper than the nano CPX

I am pretty good with a coaxial non 3d bird and I did enjoy a little quad copter that I stupidly crashed into a guitar amp and it messed up the balance of the thing but it was fun while it lasted.....(I didn't take into account of the blades being there when I crashed before whoops...blades count) I was practicing hovering piros last night with the nano before it screwed up. I was also using a helicopter iphone sim. In the sim I was able to do some flips and fly inverted ....I wasn't able to move inverted just hover inverted and flip it back around and I was considering trying that with the nano before it kuputed on me....well when I get it back

NanoQX has prop guards...it will "bump gently" and bounce off...

Put it on the ceiling with throttle and give it rudder...

WaaLaa...a ceiling fan !

Flips and rolls are not 3D though man. And, I know. I have had a ProtoX for months.

OK...fine...

The ProtoX with a traxxas controller vs the stock TX is like

Roseanne Barr vs Angelina Jolie

Edit: I'm still looking for a traxxas controller from a QR-1

Really...I haven't tried simply because the LHS could not do it and claimed it wasn't possible with the stock TX...

Are you using a special set of stick moves? IE right ail followed by quick-full left?

It takes practice, but it is possible.

Basically, you want to bypass the auto level system by shutting off the power at the same time you give full right or left or front or back. If the power is off, the auto level can't work.

Get low to the ground, give full throttle, and give full front/back/left/right and cut the throttle almost simultaneously, with a very slight delay between 'cyclic' and throttle cut. If you time it perfectly (which takes lots of practice) it will begin to roll/flip.

As soon as it gets mostly right side up, give power to let it regain level, autolevel will take care of getting it stable for you.

I'll save the flips and rolls for My 180QX and 350QX while using Stagility Mode...
And if all goes right using a sequencer in the DX9...I'll do the same with the NanoQX

The mixing of Stability Mode combined with the performance of Agility Mode = Stagility Mode

This thread has seriously been derailed.

To the OP
There is nothing smaller than the nano cpx

The OP also inquired as to the existence of something within the price range and it seemed to indicate an indoor environment...

The OP's response in post #8 recognized the possibility of an option to explore, which he admitted having done already...

But his answer was received and the topic is not that far from his initial question...as proved by post #5 and his pondering of the possible options

Failing all of the above, I think the OP was answered sufficiently and the topic simply took a turn to explore another option, which he showed an interest in
