Default DX6i to DX8

Hey guys.

I just got a DX8 transmitter and have been using a DX6i.

I'll only be binding some basic helis (nqx, ncpx, mcpx bl, 130x, 450 3d zyx fbl convert) and MAYBE a umx plank. I have two questions, however.

I have a feeling I won't be using the full capabilities of the radio for the foreseeable future, mainly excited about the back-lit screen, 3 flight modes, and 3 DR modes. My first question then involves the DR. On my DX6i the max DR I can set is 100%.. if I wanted faster I set the Travel adjust higher than 100%. With the DX8, should I continue to do it this way even though the DR can go above 100%? I guess my question is, does more than 100% DR make the servo travel farther than 100%? Or does it just reach the same travel position faster (In terms of speed, i.e. center to max in 0.8 sec instead of in 1 sec with 120% DR)?

My next question, and this may be me misinterpreting the manual, but when I select Acro vs Heli profile, does it change the radio regardless of what model I'm flying? Or is it set only for that model just like on the DX6i? I'm a bit confused here, and some clarification would be appreciated.

Somewhat off-topic, but since I can use the DX8 for anything and more than the DX6i, any reason to keep the 6er? I'm considering selling it along with one of my nqx's to any colleagues or members of a local auto enthusiast group who may be interested in getting started with the hobby.

Thanks,

Ron

I posted this on the other thread but it would t hurt put it here too. So, DR is how far and how fast the servo travels when given a command. But, if you add a travel adjust it I'll edit how far the servo travels NOT how fast it moves. DR does both, with a little practice and time you can learn to edit both to get the perfect combo.

On your other question about acro vs heli. If you change it to acro or vice versa to heli, you are only changing that specific model's setup not the entire transmitter.

And finally, if you don't need another remote, just sell it or give it to someone who could use it.

I appreciate your input! I got a chance to play around with it and realized that the response was drastically increased when I bumped up DR over 100% compared to travel.

Also using the same settings I had in my DX6i, both my nano's (a qx and cpx) are soo much more stable, a lot easier to control. Amazing what a difference it makes.
