Default 7HV gearing question

Being flying my 7HV V2 with Align 510Kv and 13T slant on 12S.
Wondering if would be more efficient to gear up to 14T
At the moment flying @ 1800 -1900-2000

Thanks

Chris

I actually think 14 would be going the wrong way. You might already be a touch overgeared for 1800. I run the 12 for the same range, and its about right. I could even drop to 11 and still pull the 2000 when wanted and be most efficient for the 1800 end. I am running the K Jive which likes a good bit of head room.

Thanks Rob, I am reviewing it, getting the Chronos upgrade and finally installing an ikon on it, running internal gov. Planning to go 710 mains too, now running stock 700.
I ll be getting new packs, and no more swapping between 10 and 12S....is bit a mess with gain settings...
I have a 12T somewhere, once the packs will be here will give a try with the 12T.

Maybe check with Jmackey on running 710's. He's done it alot. Specifically, I know the 716's. I don't recall what the limit on tail blade size is with 710's, but there is a limit.

Not sure what your flight style is like, but if you push it hard, bigger main blades will extract huge amps from your power system. I logged over 350amp spikes when I was running Rail 716's (719mm actual length) at 2200 HS with 14T pinion. TP70C G8's came down hottt (>65C) every hard flight.

I'm running Zeal 700/115's now with 13T at 1950. Nice balance of collective response and flight time. Packs love me again

Wondering if Chronos head is slightly different in size from the 7hv?
Measured bolt head to bolt head and came up with 32 7/8" (835mm)
The head is 118mm bolt to bolt C/L With 835mm can you run 710s with 115s?
At 835, that is dead on, should there be some extra clearance?

I have set of Radix710 and Edge 713, as well as Rail 106 and a set of stock 115 tail blades so wondering about the combinations?

Thanks

710+115=825

That should be just fine.

I am finally going to try the Compass 700's this spring. I will run their carbon 115's out back. Had been running Edge SE693 and SE115 and liked the pairing. Before that, is was Rail 696 and Rail 116 for a very long time.

I recently put my edge 713's on for a few flights. I've been pushing it harder than the last time I flew those blades. I was doing a high speed funnel and heard a nasty noise. The tails and mains were missing a bit off the corner. Looks like 713 and 115 are right at the limit and will touch if you push it hard in certain maneuvers. If I remember correctly, the edge 713 were actually more like 716mm when I measured. I would say 710 and 115 is definitely safe.

I could be wrong, but I theorize that maybe the Koz pulls more amps holding headspeed than a comparable setup with a Jive. I think maybe the Jive allows some lag that the Koz doesn't. Not sure, but it might explain also the short lived one-way phenomenon...???

Shoot, after reading this thread I'm questioning my purchase of Rail 716s today.

Are these going to be unsafe to fly with 115mm tails?

EDIT: Just looked at jmackeys link, looks like this isn't going to fly. And this was at the Toledo show today, Experience didn't have a receipt printer going. He said he could write one up by hand and I stupidly said naw don't need it.

Well if anyone has a set of Rail 696 they want to trade for a brand new set of 716s to try on something else or run with 105/106 tails send me a PM.

I tried out the Compass 700's with Compass 115's. I had been flying Edge SE693 and SE115. The tail wasn't at all happy with the 700's. I believe they are enough different in many regards that I would have needed some Vbar tuning, and they'd be fine. But, overall, I didn't care for them. Edge back on, and all is good now.
