I picked up a pair of the those RJX 70s, they dont fit at all. Waist of money. The grips are twice as big as the dominator grips and so is the grip bolt.

Dang, wish I saw this two days ago before I ordered them with the 360's. Is there any way to make the grips for a 500 fit on the 450l?

Can anyone comment on comparison of the Dominator versus a Blade 500X or Thunder Tiger E360?

Sort of, I've owned the blade 500X and the E320.

The dominator is a powerhouse for sure, the 500X has a lot of power, but for the size the dominator feels stronger.

The TT is slightly higher quality in some ways (mostly bearings) but again does not have the power of the dominator, also the tail is a bit weak. However those TT gears are extremely large and strong on the TT.

The 500X is the biggest and flies like it, however it also does have some quality issues, and it vibes a good bit. Also the plastic main grips are quite bendy. It has very good power still.

One thing to keep in mind:
The TT is probably the easiest to repair, but has surprisingly expensive repair costs for a 450.
The 500X isn't super hard to work on, but will be quite expensive to crash.
The align seems to have the best repair costs, but the bearings that go on the TT gears in aligns can be quite a pain.

I'd try the TT or the Trex if I were you, can't go wrong with either really. I would ultimately recommend the Trex though; while the quality isn't quite as high the tail is much stronger and parts are much easier to get. (Tower hobbies stock isn't always super great on thunder tiger parts)

Many thanks for your input! I have a TT E360 in the box from December that I'm still debating whether to open. With the recent huge drop in price of the Blade 500X, I've been debating whether I should skip the E360 entirely and get the 500X or Dominator.

I know a Dominator is in my future too.

If you can do both definitely do so. The 500 floats better for knife edge moves and has some mass, but there's nothing like a 450 size Heli to just crank packs through.

Mine is in the air! I bought a used one, came with the TGY 360s on all four corrners, the YEP 40A, and the 460MX motor.

I like it, I have to get some of those Align 1450s they seem the perfect pack for this thing... ,

I received mine yesterday. Put the AR7200BX on it and set it all up. The maiden went perfect.. Only needed slight tuning with the Beast to get it flying really nice.

I put four Align 1100 packs through it with no issues.. Also ordered a Nanotech 1300 for it.. GOBS of power, very very stable and flies like a much bigger bird. I think we're going to have a long good relationship. hahaa

I'll get some video next flight.

Hello guys I recently got the 450L and it truly is a sweet bird. I have been able to get 6 flight in so far but the tail is really giving my issues. I get this tail wag as if gain is too high but it actually is not. It's not a super fast wag like when the gain is high, I would say it's a bit slower. I have out the gain as low as 13 and as high as 35 on my futaba. 26 seems to work the best but it still is not rock solid. The Heli will work fine with any throttle curve lower than 72. Anything higher and the thing won't hold. I have gotten the tail to hold at 90% but it has to be towards the end of the flight when the tail has drained. I have also put the ball in 7-8mm which seemed to help a bit. When I hover the machine at 90% curve I also notice it will be slowly drifting to the left. I have re checked the tail and the linkage to confirm that both are butter smooth. I am running beast x which I have also messed with the head lock gain menu "D" which also helped out a bit. I am starting to think if it may be a servo that's bad or tail thrust bearings. If you guys can give input I would much much appreciate it. I will have video tomorrow.

"I am starting to think if it may be a servo that's bad or tail thrust bearings."

You are probably right on this one . Start with a different servo. Then go next with checking your thrust bearings.
