Default Poll: How long did your stock tail motor last?

I'm just checking to see how long most MCPx tail motors last. It's a brushed motor and curious how long they have been lasting before replacement?

Anywhere between ten and one hundred flights. Mine still worked when I replaced it with an upgraded motor because the stocker would not hold, it still spun, but only sort of held and then became too weak for anything. Sometimes it gives zero warning and just quits.

That's how brushed motors are expected to work when you think about it. Given the conditions under which they are operated on these helis, no brushed motor will last long.

hahah... thanks for the catch on my typo. I wonder if my tail motor is giving out? Would it cause me to use a little trim to keep it centered?

Should never use trim on an mCPX. Screws up the FBL system; needs to be zeroed when the heli powers on, or it can cause erratic flight behaviours. Says that in the manual even.

My stock tail's still going strong with over a hundred flights on it. Then again, my main is too (with no lubing or other maintenance)... so either I'm a freak, or they're wearing out at approximately the same rate.

If I don't trim, the tail keeps heading to the left on it's own and I have to correct it constantly. Should this be the case? I've upgraded to brushless C05 and using the solid CF eflite extended boom.

That would be a question for the Brushless mCPX forum, rather than the standard mCPX forum. There's a reason they made a separate one, given the weird problems BL mods can/do run into.
Though I'd expect it could be okay so long as you zeroed the trim before connecting power each time. Sounds like a problem that should be looked at and fixed rather than band-aided, though.

I bend the motor shaft long before it ever wears out. A weak point IMHO. ...or maybe I should learn how to fly better

So far, the original has worked for three months......cant say the same for the two splintered tail booms (before I went solid CF) or the tail rotor blade I lost a couple of days ago in the front yard.

I've bent more than one shaft on the tail, I usually just bend it back as close to straight as I can with a pair of pliars and it flies fine.
