Hi Punkin71,

Thats good news about the new head. Im currently flying the converted head and dont really have any issues. My flying style is currently light sport flying. At this level, do you think the new head will make a difference to me? Or is it only when you start hard 3d manoevers that it makes a difference?
May buy one anyway as it looks so much better
Cheers,
Nick

Hi, could you, please, elaborate it? I have one fb converted to fbl and I am very curious to find out why and how much it is better. Which way? What did you notice over converted head?

All of it would help me decide to get one, too! But, for such difference in price (£0 vs £50) I would like to know what i am getting!

Don't rush. Midlands have sold out of them.

If it is really worth I'll be stalking their web site until it gets back to stock and buy one immediately.

On the other hand, if it is one of 'those' statements on the forum - then I won't bother at all..

I'm just curious to hear what really is the difference. Not just 'feels' this or that. Although only better dumpers alone can make huge difference no matter of anything else...

I placed my order yesterday. Just in time before they sold out.

I'm not sure if it will fly any better than the converted flybared head, heck.. I've not ever flown a MT with a flybar.

IMO. It has less moving parts than the mod because it is a direct linkage from swash to grips, so that is always a plus since there is less to adjust and or break in a crash. Much more elegant looking too.

Clicky, I emailed Fast Lads about the MT fbl head a couple of months ago and they replied saying they would stock it.
I keep checking their "what's new" section but nothing as yet. Just means there could be another place to buy one at some point.

I would like to see spares for it on stock too.

Are the old feathering shafts and bearings compatible?

That's good point. First - what to do when crash (where to get links from? B400 again? ) and if old feathering shaft first (I have already asked the question here but no volunteers yet).

I suspect that rest of it shouldn't really break or not break easily.

Also, bearings you can, usually, get somewhere else if really needed... But so far I never got bearings suffered in any of my crashes (and I did have quite a few )

With the converted SE head I was seeing some phasing issues when doing flips, the tail would step out 20+ degrees within a full rotation, also the heli would fly with the nose slightly higher than the tail during FFF. Now the heli flies more like my fbl trex 500.

I also notice that my cyclic servos are now cool to the touch after flight where before they would be on the warm side.

Those seems to be valid reasons why would proper FBL head be better... Although I didn't notice any phasing issues - only my involuntary rudder stick inputs while doing flips. If I concentrate to it MT flips straight - I can do multiple slower or faster flips in a row without any side effects.

Servos being warmer with sloppier head makes perfect sense!

Eh - there goes my £50 ...

Got my servo arms 90ed and my flybarless head assembled today. Everything fit perfectly on the fbl head and the blade grips rotate very smoothly with no play at all.

Finished up the head today. All that's left is the tail. so close. I'll be doing my maiden flight tomorrow for sure!

I really like how low the head sits. It is about an inch shorter than my Blade 450.

Just out of interesr ,are you running a seParate Bec?

I just fitted Mks DS95 servos to my MT and it seems my Phoenix 45A Esc cannot handle them. I have s thread over on the Skookum forum with more detail.

No. It is built in to the eflite esc. I used it on my Blade 450 with the same servos and never had any problems with it.

I got to do a mini maiden this morning!!
Just did some test hovering to get my zyx dialed in. Waiting for my batteries to charge and then I'm going to a larger area to try it out. So far, I have to say the MT is much more lively than my B450.

I flew 6 batteries yesterday, took 2 of them to get the tail and fbl dialed in. The last 4 batteries were awesome. I never knew that a 450 could fly so good. Even at 2800 headspeed, it was way more wild than my Blade 450 ever was at a 3000 headspeed.

I LIKEE!!!
Other than the short flight times, the Mini Titan rocks!!!! Felt like my Protos 500... just smaller and not as quiet. It's a keeper(well maybe.. we'll see once I get me a mini protos).

I ordered it from Europe.. Took about 8 days to get it form Midland helis: http://www.modelhelicopters.co.uk/

Unfortunately i just crashed it from about 30 ft up. Apparently one of the aileron balls came out of the servo horn.
Tried to auto it in, was able to flip it right side up, but couldn't flare since i was missing an aile servo.

I'm impressed, only damage is Landing gear and feathering shaft. I expected it to be alot more. It hit pretty hard and barely missed a car. whew......

Wow, nice save, Yeah the MT can take a good hit! (Trust me when I say that) I like mine alot, it's my "trainer" I have plastic kit and parts are easy to get and well priced. Typically not too much damage. The main shafts kinda suck though, almost every incident requires 1. It's that groove near the top, always bends there. Weak link, every heli has an Achilles heel. I also found the lg is ok ,not so good in colder temps though. Switched to the protos 500 lg and it's awesome! Also keeps the tail blades little higher if grass is high.As well as a wider stance.
I'm using the Tarot fbl unit as well, with a Gaui450 fbl head.
