if you follow the manual it is about as easy as it gets.

it shows you step by step.

Finless,

I would be interested on your views of the manuals instructions on electronics placement.
They have the ESC mounted on the right side lower frame outer. I assume this to be a good idea due to it counter balancing the offset elevator and slightly offset rudder servos ?

Thanks

Timbo

And good for additional airflow for cooling.

I surprised Align hasn't updated the manual, on their site, with the correct torque tube bearing placement (page 11). The latest kits come with an amended page, inserting in the manual.

Bob - If you plan on doing a build video soon let us know. I got mine today for my birthday and can go through this myself but I enjoy your build videos as it gives me that little extra confidence that I won't be screwing something up. I hate it when I do that

My manual's page 11 shows, I think, that the bearing should be located 28.1cm (281mm) from the front end (connects to frame, not tail) and 29.6cm (296mm) from the tail end of the tube.

Is that figure correct?

No. It should be 26.9 from the front and 31.8 from the tail, which is 3cm forward from the center.

I don't see why anyone would need a parts list. Go to your favorite site, click on parts -> Align -> 550e and then find the picture of the part you need. That gives the bonus of being able to buy it right then.

It was nice to see the parts list in my 450Pro manual. I wish those pages were also in the 550E manual.

Default VIDEO Setup 550E 3G Flybarless

I found this video on the 550E 3G Flybarless. While it's not a Finless production, it's a great help for those that like real pictures over black and white manual drawings.

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lyl8ycp5hp4[/ame]

I found nothing on the setup of the flybarless system. I found out why. Because its actually really simple to setup.

First set up the cyclic servo's off the heli just like Bob does in the 450 Pro video. Then install them in the heli and connect them to the control unit.

When you power up the heli for the first time you hold the setup button in on the control unit while you power up. (Quite a trick if you live alone )

This puts the FBL control unit in bypass mode.

Then check your cyclic servo's to see if the orientation is correct. If you set them up correctly before installing them in the heli they should still work fine. If not follow the Align instructions to correct the servo direction and cyclic + -. Bob's 450 Pro video is a great help on understanding the setup of cyclic servo's if you haven't done this before.

Once you get everything traveling in the right direction and have mid stick neutral dialed in on the head then you set up the control unit by following the step by step Align instructions. They are really rather simple once you read through them.

My JR 9303 setup is available if you would like it.
