Default Fuel Tank

If you look at my "what model is this" thread you will see a piece of thin flat stock that held the tank in. My guess (since there was no seat/canopy) is the model was flown this way. Although not a true "Schluter" part, I wanted to have something to hold it in place. It just seems like the safe thing to do. I used an old tail control rod to make one. I used a section of large diameter pipe to bend the rod around. It took a long time to get it just right and look somewhat "factory".

Default Engine/Exhaust is in

I forgot to mention in my last post I did some woodwork. I left it plain (no stain) and did not do any servo cut outs. I got to thinking that the next owner may not want the old servo's in it, or new ones for that matter. Since the hole size is not the same I just left it. So now on to the engine. I really like how it looks in the frame. The shape, color, and size of the exhaust just looks sweet. I cant stop looking at it. Of course I am bias.

It looks great, sir!

I think the tank in mine was held in with J-bolts and rubber bands, but cannot remember.

Default Tail Boom Installed

I know it's been way to long since my last post....sorry. I decided I better get moving on this project so here's an updated pic. I plan on cleaning up the rest of the tail parts this week....at least that's my "plan".

That looks better than new (and I was around and flying when these were new)!

Thank you VERY much. All I can say is I'm glad I have NOT kept track of the time I have into this project. I would most likely be visited by men with a white jacket with extra long sleeves. I have just placed an order for the last of the parts I need...I hope.

Default Tail Control Rod

The last owner used these clamps to hold the tail control rod tube to the tail. They are a little big so I used a piece of fuel tubing inside the clamp for a perfect fit. I did have to use a spacer between the fin and large clamp for a better fit. I think it turned out nice.

Default Tail Grips

These cleaned up very nice. I used Dawn dish soap just like on the main gear. Dawn really does take grease out of your way

I was waiting for a comment on those. I did not have any more 3mm washers left and needed to use something. I really don't want to order a minimum amount of them...might have to I guess.

Nothing wrong with bling when used correctly.
If is only for looks, to me this is a nono.
If it serves a useful purpose I will do it.

Default New parts are here, but have issues

So this was my order:
1) Canopy. This is in two halves and not sure what to use to glue them together. It also has the doors that I need to cut out. I think it looks better with no doors. I have decided to use pin strip on the outside of the canopy vs painting on the inside. I can always change colors if I don't like one and its not permanent.
2) Seat. Not sure what to use to cut it out or glue the pieces together. Maybe a combination of dremmel, scissors, and hobby knife. It did not come with the two stick controls but not a big deal. I do need to find something to use as a seatbelt to keep Joe in....any idea's?
3) Main & tail blades. Not sure what to do here. I still don't know if I will keep the model for display or sell it. I might just keep the blades in the package.
4) main shaft. I ordered the 7/8mm shaft by mistake. Turns out they don't make a full length 7mm shaft. This shaft has about an inch on each end that is 7mm. The rest of the shaft is 8mm. So I either have to buy new bearings for the two bearing blocks, swash ball, and swash driver all in 8mm sizes or have the shaft turned. I'm not sure if this is possible. Although its only a small amount of material to be removed, I'm not so sure it wont bend.
Looking for advice....please help!
