Most of use probably use the 2000 to 2200 range and if you go through the sticky and follow the guidance there along with good regular inspection of the gears you should have no problems. 2000 to 2200 is probably about the optimum HS range for this heli regardless of gear stripping.

Just wondering if I'll be OK using a mixture of gear types? I've ordered the new CNC main gear, and the older white TT gears. So once fitted, I'll be using a CNC main, black tail drive, white TT and black tail shaft gears. I take it they're all the same tooth count?

Thanks mate. That HS range make sense to me. I asked it because some people I asked same question in another forum told me 2400 is the HS this heli feels good flying and that HS it sounds too high for a 600 size heli for me.

Thanks a lot again.

If using a black main drive gear then use black TT gears up front. Use either a white or all black at the rear or at least that is how I interpret Outrage's guidance. Tooth count is the same on all and it matters not what main gear you are using. In short the gears that mesh need to be of the same colour.

Thanks, so the odd one out here is the lower main gear (what's that called, I always forget) which I will need to change out for a white one.

I think I'll leave all the black gears in and make sure the mesh is right and see how that goes first.

I guess there's no point trying to fix the problem if I don't even know if I have it yet or not.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS STICKY PERTAINS TO THE ORIGINAL WHITE GEAR SETS AND THE BLACK GEARS.

There might be elements that carry over to the v3 gears (ie the white ones released in Oct 12), for example, the new boom blocks still might require a touch of sanding to get rid of flashing.

I have a kit with the "new" black gear still in the box, should someone like myself buy this kit and install these "new new" gears in my build or do the fix listed in this thread?

Depends on how you fly. If you use the tail a lot.. do reversals, pitch pumps, prio transition etc I'd go for the new gears. If you are into sport flying go with the blacks until you have an 'incident'. Either way you will eventually have the new white gears and splines.

Are the pieces in the bevel gear retro-fit kit available separately? Just had one of the front bevel gears break (doesn't look like it stripped - a whole chunk came out), and I'd prefer to buy just that replacement part rather than shell out $35 again for the whole package...

Can someone confirm, that the new new gears (october 2012) can stand hard 3D at 2200 RPM? I just stripped my main gear (first version - my fault) and I consider changing the umbrella gears as well. But if they cant keep the promise, I might sell the fusion, which would be a sad day......

Just change the main gear with the CNC and you will be fine,, even with the old umbrella gears

I have flown the Fusion with old tail gears and been fine. However I switched to the new ones because they have a better mesh and feel to them. they just look to be higher quality.

Phuh, I am glad to hear that, tnx. I love the way my fusion performs in the air.

Another question: is there an easy way to distinguish the new white umbrella gears when they are already build into the heli? They have the same color as the first version.

I bought my Fusion second hand and I am not completely shure, whether the previous owner hat equiped it with new gears already.

Here's a link to a thread showing the new gears to the previous black gears. The new gears look a lot different, so you should be able to easily tell between these and your white gears.

The gear teeth are much more robust than the old ones. The old ones have a very fine gear tooth.

Also the new gears on the tail end are a little different. The one in the tail case attatched to the TT has a little flange of sorts sticking out towards the the tail shaft.

Take a pic and we will tell you which ones you have.
