Default T-Rex 500 Motor and Canopy Options

Greetings,

I'm tired of the noisy bearings in the stock align motor and am looking for a replacement. I was set on the Scorpion motor, but understand its bearings need oiling every five, or so, flights; is there not a better option?

I'm using the Zippy 2650 packs and an ICE 100 ESC. I've not progressed to 3d and at this point, just want a smooth and reliable heli.

A Neu motor was suggested and am wondering if anyone has had experience with these, if they're recommended and if so, what motor, in my application?

Lastly, the new T-Rex 550e canopy, will it fit on the 500?

Any and all recommendations appreciated!

thanks,

John

500 only fits with 500 canopys. My stock 500mx motor isnt loud at all. Why would u want a quiet heli?

So you want a motor with smoother, quieter bearings but you don't want to take the minute or so to oil them?

the 500mx motor is a big improvement over the 500l as far as power goes also comes down so much cooler after flights, noticed it drains the batteries a little more but its well worth it. will be getting a scorpion motor on the next heli i put together no experience with them but many positive reviews on them.

The 500mx is a awesome motor, however if you really like the power of the 500mx do NOT get the 3226-1600, you might be disappointing. I'm running the newer 3226-1400 and I absolutely love it!!! im getting 4.30 min at 100% with a 14t with aggressive flying. the motor comes down slightly hot, about 130-140, and the lipo and ESC under 100, this is on 3000 30c. I'm actually getting about 30 seconds more flight time compared to the 500mx.

Gee, isn't there anyone able to provide a motor recommendation, based on bearing longevity?

Bearings on these motors are a regular wear item. Or u can just upgrade to boca bearings and wish for the best.

The NEU or older KDE motor's bearings last forever. Have my KDE motor now for more than 1.5 years, probably 300+ flights, not a single squeal and NO oiling required.

I personally dont have any issue oiling my bearings, it takes all of a few minutes and I love the way the Scorpion oil smells

Are you guys wearing out bearings due to a tight pinion/main gear mesh?

Buy a Scorpion or Hyperion motor and install double rubber sealed ceramic bearings. Remember to add green locktite between the axle and the inner race. It will last for a looong time with no maintenance.
The same can probably be done with the MX motor. Remember to change the axle too.
