Default Ouch- 500SE Tail Failure

The Tail Grip Bolt broke in flight. Amazing how quickly the HS decays with one tail blade, it's almost a rekit.

So my question is I am running 92mm Rotortech's which I thought would be fine?

had to order 1/2 the parts from RH and the other half from Fastlad. This is my first Logo crash, observation is there should be more than one in the US.

you can order from RCflightstore in canada, they're near enough to the US border that they could ship from the US for you

I've read of sucess and failure with the stock tail and 95mm blades.

The geoometry is said to be corected in the QUK tail now (can't confirm though) and for $60 it's peace of mine for sure

I was under the impression that 92 and 95mm were fine on the 500se...in the specs it says 550 to 620 main blades for the 500se...what tail blades are recommended for those blade sizes? Sorry to hear about your crash Mystic...what HS and blade combo where you running?

Did the grip itself break or did the bolt in the hub shear?

Yeah the stock tail is fine for <100mm. So many things could have happened to damage the tail. How many flights have you had with this tail?

About 120 Flights on 600mm Edge Mains and 92mm Rotortech Tails.
No Vibrations in the tail for sure

Headspeed was 2200

Ive been running 92mm tail feathers for some time now, with stock tail unit and Edge 553's at 2250 RPM's. Ive had one incident where I've over tightened the 2.5mm bolts and have lost a tail blade grip. Don't over tighten the 2.5mm blade holder bolts and it will be fine!!! Let the Locktite do its job)

Are you guys for real, making excuses about over tightening the screws, its a top end heli and there is obviously a problem with the stock mikado tails, it well documented.
Just put a quick uk tail and forget and fly, this is the third one so far, 2 in real life and this one recently all on 500se.

All mikado pilots fly stock.. most are running 2200 to 2250 rpm..

Overtightening the screws is a big point.. If you overtighten the screws of that QUK tail it will fail too.

QUK sucks for 3d too.. nasty sideffects like whiplashing and non consistendCCW piro rates. thats well documented..

So is there some sort of uber tough screw out there we can use to replace the stick screws? Something with a nice radiused shoulder, tougher allow, etc...

Not that it matters... I'm pulling my QUK off tomorrow and replacing with a stock tail again... tired of the weird characteristics.

I've had this happen too. Surpisingly I only damaged the tail. Mainblades, head, canopy all survived

You can waste 27 bucks on this, they recomend you use wax or oil when installing into new or hard material lol..

Those are crap, fool me once into buying rcscrews, never again.
IMHO you do not want stainless, it is a much softer metal than the stock
Logo screws which is high carbon steel, downside is they rust easily.

Yup... I don't know why people buy stainless.

Top end heli or not if you over tighten the screws you will have issues.I have ran the stock tail with 105's for over 400 flights now. No issues.

I believe the opposite is actually true. The geometry problems with the UK tail are well documented. The stock tail seems to be the preference of most Logo owners.

So does anybody know a recommend torque number for the hub screws so we can be a little more scientific about this? Some people are gazelles, some people are gorillas
