Default DX6i Throttle Lock

Guys,

My DX6i is having an intermittant throttle lock. Throttle lock will be competely on, but throttle movements will sometimes cause the motor to engage. I found this out on my Nano and mCPX, but now I am worried that it could happen on one of my larger helis.

Has this happened to anyone else? Ideas?

It hasn't happened to me. But if you mean that Throttle Hold is momentarily disengaging, allowing the motor to start, then shutting off again, then I would suspect the physical switch as the first thing to check. Maybe try wiggling the switch itself to see if you can make the problem happen?

You could open the radio and, as a test, potentially swap the plugs for two switches, to temporarily use something else to control Throttle Hold. If the problem goes away, I'd suspect a bad switch.

You might be able to physically change the installed positions of two switches, and swap their plugs as well, to simply use something else for TH, but in the original location. Or get a replacement switch, either from Horizon, or some type of more-generic switch.

Many radios have a 'monitor' mode where it will show the outputs of the channels, this may help you diagnose the problem without involving a heli.

The screen looks like this:

Wiggling the switch in the on position seems to turn the throttle off and on. I will open it up tomorrow!!

Hey guys,

Switched the throttle lock switch with the aileron D/R. Seems to work good, although the physical switch was smaller, which is kind of annoying.

I noticed these two switches have a different amperage rating (3A for original throttle lock, 2A for the aileron D/R). Does this really make a difference when I swap them?

No it doesn't matter. At the voltage / current we are dealing with in transmitters, those rating far surpass what we need the switches to do.
