The simulator is the most valuable tool you can have at this point. Fly a lot on there and don't try anything in real life that you can't do on the simulator proficiently.
Hi J,
Thanks for the info. I will try to learn stall turn more before attempting loop. one question, can we actually use and simulate idel up function in simulator? i have Phoenix rc simulator version 2.5 i think. I.e. if we set up idel up tx, when plugged in , can we use it directly or need further configuration ?

cheers.

Lawrence,

When you run Phoenix 2.5 on a computer connected to the Internet, it should automatically update you to Phoenix 4.0. You might want to do that if possible.

Also, you can use idle up in Phoenix. Make sure the collective pitch is set to channel 6 in Phoenix (leave the throttle on 1) so when you go into idle up on your radio, Phoenix will see the independent curves.

Hope that helps,

J

Hi All,

I have made a big mistake...too keen to fly my cypher once I installed the eletronics etc, the screws holding the ball link on the swashplate came loose and there gone the woodies blades, lesson learned, locktite all the screws, then put on cheap carbon fiber £ 5 blades, it is hovering ok now.

it handles mild breeze quie well, as others said, i find it nose heavy with 2200 and 1800 mAh lipo packs, do i need to worry too much or it is find?

Cheers and enjoy flying.

btw, anyone ever put readily available scale body onto cyphers? if so, mind to share some links/ photos/ cheers

Regards,
Lawrence

OMG - this is a long thread. I confess I haven't read it all!!

I have just put together my Cypher.

I didn't need to do as the booklet says to install the elevator servo which is to remove the main gear but I did do it cos I didn't know better!!

I am using cheap stuff on it cos it was a present so I have a Hobbyking gyro. This is the second I have on a heli. I can't get the tail to stop big wags. Are these gyros just rubbish? Do you Cypher guys have any suggestions?

try turning your gain down or up on the gyro.
it's kinda hard to say what causes a problem if you cant see the problem.
try posting a vid ?
as far as the Hobby king gyro ...
cheap electronics make a terrible flyin heli .. bottom line.
this is what i had in my Cypher (now in my EXI)
flew great

cyclics= DS 410
esc= Align E35G
bec= Castle creations 10amp
motor= Align 430xl
RX = FUTABA R617FS
Gyro = GY401
Tail Servo = s9257

Yes I do agree. I'd like 401s in all my kit.

The first HK gyro was one in a used Mini Titan I just bought. The seller said the Titan flew great but it turns out he stripped out his Spartan and replaced it with an HK for the sale and it is a bit temperamental but I didn't get to fly the Titan before I bought the HK for my Cypher. Looks like I need two gyros now!

I tried fiddling with the gain till I am blue in the face. I have an old rate gyro which I know works that I will try next.

Tried it with a CSM rate gyro and it flies as steady as a rock.

Hey Guys, long time no talk.
Just flew my cypher today after I dont know how long.. Did pretty good, didnt crash.
Then it started raining and had to stop after only 1 pack.
Any how hope you are all still around and doing good.
Still have an issue on the heli that the tail wants to keep drifting clockwise,add trim and it makes do difference.

I drove mine into the ground awhile back, wasn't worth rebuilding and hobby people stopped selling the m. Shame too, it was a great bird for the price.

Steve

Smile Not to worry

Ron Lund at Heliproz South still supports the Cypher 400 3D and has 17 kits in stock and parts.

Makes me feel good about building mine. Neat little heli.

Hi All,

Happy New Year everyone, just a quick note to tell that at leat I am still flying my Cypher in 2013.

Only repair was the landing gear 'rod' that was broken from a harsh landing in very cold weather. I guess the cold weather made the plastic a bit more birttle?

pulled out the broken and replaced with a spare one i got from 450 sized heli. and she is back to fly again.

in my opinion, she is still too quick and too responsive for my skills but I am learning it!!

cheers and enjoy flying all!

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd share that I helped set the [3/9/13 Las Vegas Fun Fly] Guinness Book of World Records record for the most R/C helicopters (60) in the air at one time with the Cypher 3D! I can guarantee that I was the ONLY person there flying a Cypher! Bet you'd never think that a Cypher would be flying in the same 'event' that had Kyle Dahl and Danny Szabo flying in it!

I assume I'm probably one of the last people in the US flying the Cypher on a regular basis. What blows me away is that you can get ALL the replacement parts EXCEPT the mainshaft these days. I don't get how Hobby People thinks they will ever sell any of the other Cypher parts if you can't get the number one part that usually bends in a crash. I guess they don't really care at this point.

Anyone else out there flying their Cypher still? Anyone have any new in the package mainshafts laying around? I can make my own, but I wouldn't mind having some of the originals.

Take care,

J

Excellent information, well done.

If I had a mainshaft I'd lock it in my safe after what you've just told us.

Anyone need parts?

I have BNIP 2 fly bars, 2 main shafts, 2 spindles, and one loose spindle (not sure if its straight) and a pair of blade grips and ball links but no blade bolts.

Steve
