Default 1st forward flight for me this morning!

WORST CRASH EVER!................just kidding, it really went well. i have only flown the G4 before and this is my first heli. i went to a park with a baseball field by my office. brought it up to about 10 ft. and said goodbye. surprising how fast it will be almost out of sight. i pulled up and when it slowed i whipped the tail back around and brought it straight back at me. i did it about 3-4 time and then realized i had forgotten to start my timer. i was also feeling a little proud of myself and luck at that point so i just brought it in close and hovered for a couple minutes and decided i had pushed my luck enough for now. im hooked! - mark

Impressive to do all that with your first real flight! You musta put in some good hours in G4! You didn't crash either! Bravo man! I'm sure your stoked! This stuff is highly addicting...just as much as the real thing!

Great work, my only advise is be careful bringing it straight back at yourself, if you lose control it could smack straight into you. I had one of these near misses when I first started forward flight and it wasnt on my first flight either, I was getting more confident and thats when I had the problem.

i was keeping it about 15-20 ft. high so that it wouldnt get to close to me. it is amazing how a park that looks pretty big gets small when this thing starts flying.

Wow great job! Glad you didn't crash it. I really wan't to start foward flight but I think I need a bit more real world hovering practice first.

I hope my first FF post about my B400 will sound as happy as yours. We'll see in the spring. Good job!

Be SURE to be proficient in hovering in ALL orientations without much thought before you attempt forward flight with turns! A solid foundation pays off many times..

Good advice! Don't depend on it to go straight. But you're doing the right thing! Fly straight out a bit, turn the tail around, and fly straight back. Learn to control the cyclic to keep it level and the rudder to keep the tail behind it, then you will be ready for controlled banking turns

I just got my B400 out into the open for the first time in two weeks as the weather has been pretty crappy and my stock gyro couldnt hold the tail in dead calm if it wanted to. But after many hours of playing with the tail and the fact my Hirobo shuttle wouldnt start I pulled it out. I only got about 3 mins of flight time as my knees were shaking so bad and my fingers near numb from cold, but I did some more forward flight and banked turning practice. Then with it about 50 feet up, and flying like ive never had it fly before, I got brave and tried my first aileron rolls! Did three before I had to land and check my pants. Such a great feeling when you accomplish something new and bring her back in one piece eh?

Happy flying!
(and practice lots on the sim!)

That's awesome, it only gets more fun. Remember there will be days where you may become frustrated but just stick with it and you will be rewarded with an excellent hobby for many years. Have fun flying
