That seems to be a very wide disparity between endpoints. If you can, can you please post a picture showing the tail pitch slider position and the pitch arm when the tail servo is centered? Please note that I am more familiar with Vortex FBL units, so your values may be fine--please do try to post the picture so we can be certain.

Thanks,

The bolts used in the tailblade grips are incorrect in length and also it might just be the photo but the bolt on the top tailblade grip looks bowed and the locknut doesn't appear to seat flat.

Yes I did go with longer bolts because the M3X22's didn't seem long enough. I couldn't get enough threads into the lock nut without having to tighten the bolts too tight. Those are M3X26mm, I couldn't find 24mm or 25mm, they are brand new so not bent at all, just optical illusion I think.

Edit:Your right both of those bolts are bent, I don't know why because I didn't have any tail strikes at all, maybe just inferior metals?

Alright, so I took the tail grips off too check the thrust bearings were installed correctly and they are...BUT for some reason I can not understand one grip when installed on the tail hub fits flush at the end and the other has like a 4 or 5mm gap from the end.

See pics

Each side has exactly the same stuff in it and installed correctly

The tail grip bearings are allowed to slide, axially, on the tail hub. Under centripetal force, the grips will both move out away from the hub.

One thing to check, is that when you pull both blade grips out, away from the hub, there is no additional friction in the system. Sometimes the "h" shaped arms will misalign slightly when the grips are slung out, providing a bit of friction that is otherwise hard to detect.

Well I swapped the grips around and it seemed to cure the imbalance.

The problem I was seeing was one grip have a lot of end play while the other had no end play.

Swapped them around and now both have close too equal play when pulled out (one side a bit more than the other still). I have what looks like straight H arms when everything is in place.

What does it look like when you pull the blade grips away from the hub?

Also, I checked the tail gain in the "Gyro Sense" Menu for the Chronos in my radio-it is at 61% for the two-bladed Chronos and 67% for the three-bladed Chronos.

This is with KBDD 112mm EE Tail Blades.

I will be out for the day, but will measure the ball distance on the tail servo arms this evening. Tail servos are both (if memory serves) JR 8900G's.

How is the alignment when they move out?

Any binding?

No binding when I pull them out without the H arms the grips swivel easily.

There doesn't feel like any binding with the H arms on when just moving the tail rod disconnected from the servo arm.

I'm glad you got the length issue fixed. Likely one grip had a bearing that didn't seat all the way. I would trim the bolts you used for the grips...reason being is that you're introducing a faux Chinese weight system into one that doesn't require it. I would trim the bolts until only 1 or 2 threads are showing. My tail blades are tight with the stock bolts, but remember that when the tail is spinning the blades will still find the proper position.

On your pictures... thanks for posting. I really need to see how the pitch slider and the pitch arm line up--if you can, take another picture looking straight down. Thanks!

Scott

" I would trim the bolts until only 1 or 2 threads are showing"

Both of those bolts ended up being bent for some reason, so I replaced with the stock bolts for now.

That looks pretty much like mine looks, so we're good there. Since swapping the tail grips around have you tried to fly it? One more question, with the grip links disconnected, do they rotate freely around the pin--not sloppy but free?
