Hope the long shaft works out for you. Please report back. I can tell you from my experience the long shaft was softer than the shaft adapter and bent quite easily. My shaft adapter at least stayed straight but the OWBs still wore it out although at a slower pace. I then cut the shaft adapter and made 4mm inserts out of hardened steel rod to put into the cut adapter and then tightened with set screws expecting to replace the inserts periodically as a disposable item. Surprisingly (or not) my hardened steel rod last much longer than the the adapter and even more so than the long shaft. In the end I phased out the "insert" system for the steel solid pinion on 6mm shaft adapter and never looked back. These have all been documented somewhere I posted.
