Default Weird Set Up Question for Trex 250

I had to re-bind my 3GX in my Trex 250 and re-do the set up. In order to complete this, I pulled the 3GX out from its hiding hole and had it beside the heli when I went through the set up procedures. All went well and everything tested okay on the bench.

I take her outside to test fly it. Spooled up fine, no obvious vibrations. Up about a foot of the deck and it violently rolled to the left and crashed.

Should I have left the 3GX inside the heli when I set it up? Would that cause this issue?
Or should I pursue a different trouble shooting methodology? Maybe I over looked something?

I just wouldn't fly a 3GX on the 250, that sounds like the kind of roll caused by vibrations, and is something the 3GX unfortunately is known for. Combine that with the 250 being notorious for vibrations and its just a bad combination. My 3GX did exactly the same thing.

Almost any modern FBL will fly better and be more reliable.

It is not the 3GX.
I have/had many 250's with 3GX and no issues.
Do all the setup from scratch.
And make sure it is compensating as it should before you install the blades and fly

So... I tried again and went through the whole set up process yet again. I can almost do this in my sleep now.
I went outside, set it down. I was excited... This should work now... Throttled up... and nothing. Everything was clicking and whirring as it should, but nothing.
Flipped a few switches and then I heard a squeal and the sound of the magic smoke, followed by a nice fire from my 10A Castle BEC.

Really? Its like the heli gods don't want me to fly this bird.

I am so close to selling this thing. I just don't wanna put any more resources to this.

A bit late now, but the 3GX probably needs to be in/on the Heli. to be "calibrated" to centers (mast, tail, frame). An offset may "confuse" the electronics.
I have a 3GX mounted upside down and manage to get my "sausage finger" to the button at an angle through the bottom plate.

No, you don't need the 3GX in the model for setup, only for checking gyro directions.

Like others have said, get rid of it if you can. The 3gx might work for others but every heli is different and your could vibrate a bit more than someone else's w a 3gx in it. As stated, almost any other fbl gyro on the market now will do better handling the vibrations of a 250. I personally have a ar7200bx mounted on the side of mine and it handles the 250 fine.

The small helis like the 250 have much more vibrations than the bigger ones.
Very often everything fails and the heli shutters like hell.
I only can advise the new Microbeast V4, which compensates all these vibrations.
The 3GX depends on your heli. If your heli is vibration free, then it will work.
But it most cases your 3GX mounted inside the Trex250 will vibrate.
The Microbeast or Ar7200bx can be put vertical on the side in contrary to the 3GX.
Outside vertical your FBL should be vibration free.
