Today I took my 500 for a ride and trying out my new servos, flight was amazing everything was going fantastic up to the point where I was doing a hurricane and I suddenly lost power. The motor was still running I cant hear it. It was a problem with the motor shaft that had the pinion slipping out. Typically I snapped it out of the hurricane and auto it to the ground, It was falling pretty fast and pretty far away. I couldnt see where the ground is it was kinda going behind a hill. I apparently flicked the pitch a bit late. It was already on the ground when I pitched up. Basically what I did is make it worse for the skids.

Minimal damage, broken skids, servo arm, motor shaft, main shaft.

Im considering saving up and getting a 1400KV in there instead of the 1600KV 500MX.

Nothing has been the same since I changed my gyro and ESC. I did the same by getting a 100A and man things got smooth after it.

Sorry to hear about your crash, but it sounds like it could have been a lot worse! I assume that you are talking about the Scorpion 1400Kv motor. That has a lot of torque for hard 3D. If you're not such a hard flier, the Scorpion 1600Kv motor will give you a little more flight time.

I got sick of being confused on which tail slider and tail grip link assembly to purchase so I put my spare KDE slider back on. It worked fine last time i used it so why not.

I also had some left over "simcarbon" wrap that I used on my charging case. So I figured i'd see if i could wrap the boom real quick. super easy and it holds well after a good denatured alcohol cleaning.

my tail vibe is FINALLY gone after installing another tail shaft. And after being dynamically balanced with a magnetic prop adapter i'm finally satisfied there are NO vibes.

sad day for me, after a rainy week today we had two hours of a nice sun but strong wind and tomorrow will rain again until friday so this morning I charge 6 lipos and I went to the field, so happy about that but I wasn't able to fly because of the strong wind (they say 19km/h max but I never flown with wind so I tried) so after three lipos trying to adjust tail gain I left the field. I don't know if I'm not good with the tail gain or because of the strong wind but came home with fully charged lipos sucks, a lot!

Hope you guys had a better weekend

I know the feeling! But coming home with charged packs is better than coming home with a broken heli.

Will an E-pro canopy fit an older E?

Aside from having extra mounting holes down low (which i'd either mount posts to my airframe or cover with small decals.

Thanks.

I've been using various versions of Pro canopies on my ESP for a couple of years now. I have an extra set of mounts for the front. The Canomod and Fusuno canopies were always a direct fit. I have a genuine Align canopy on it now, and it's too narrow. I'm thinking of shortening the mounting posts to make it fit better.

Okay awesome. Im not too worried about the lower supports, i have some spare plastic ones laying around I can install. Just curious about the 3300mah Glaciers I use and fitting under that cano. I like it, kinda like a Mikado look I think i'm gonna pull the trigger. My Fusuno Red EX is starting to look old. and has a few cracks in it now from mishaps and dirt naps

Thanks,
-Markus

Managed two flights on my 500 before dinner time and before the rains came.. I think it starting sprinkling during my second pack. Testing the tail and some new cyclic settings on the SK-540.

I also have the KBDD dark green and black 430mm blades mounted. They are great blades from the two flights i put on them, just UGLY in my opinion, especially with my red and black canopy. Hence why i'm canopy shopping right now. I'll probably go back to using the align blades I was prior.

The Glacier 3300s fit fine under the canopy.

I pulled the trigger on the "mikado looking" Fusuno canopy. I've put so many flights on my red / white checker flag fusuno canopy that i'm tired of looking at it.

DARN shipping has gotten expensive! 30$. Almost as much as the canopy meh

It always depends on where you buy it from. I haven't bought any Fusuno canopies direct because of their shipping cost.

Direct from Fusuno . It's not that big of a deal. The canopy was on sale anyway. Late christmas gift for my T-rex

I bought a couple of pair of blades on the first of november and I used them only few days ago and now I was looking at my bird and I saw one blade is 'broken'. I didn't crash with it, I used just for some hovering on a windy day (on sunday if I remember right) so it's strange it's ruin like that.. what do you think about it? here some photos: https://flic.kr/s/aHskf6NeYE

another question, do you think one of these plate is good? I'm tired of the bad plastic align's plates.

I can't see if there's a crack in that blade or not, but if you're referring to the hole, then I wouldn't even call that "damage". It's just a manufacturing defect, and in my opinion is fine to fly. If there is a crack, where it looks like the two surfaces of the blades are separating, then that's a different story.

What don't you like about the Align base plate? My 500 came with some crummy aftermarket aluminum and carbon fiber base plate that was heavy, and the aluminum was so soft that almost all the holes stripped upon disassembly. I replaced it with Align's plastic plate, and have had over 200 problem free flights since, including half a dozen crashes.
