Default New tracking issue, can't get within an 1"

Hey guys, I've been flying for a few months now not having any issues setting up proper tracking (which I check in a hover), now after several crashes (never on the head) and a couple months of flying I can't seem to get my tracking within an inch. It's really weird one turn on one blade makes the marked blade go from an inch low to an inch high. I've even tryed a half turn by screwing the ball link in from the other side. Now I should say I have always repaired after every crash, with new parts when needed. Currently it has a new feathering shaft, main shaft, main gear, flybar, dampners, balanced blades. All my links are set up measured by caliper to be equal (or factory specs, which were fine before), swash leveled, new blade grips and all my bearings are normal, all link balls are tight and everything that should, moves smoothly. The only thing I can figure is there is a little slop in the head with all combined links (I don't think any more than new) but each individual part is tight. Could something be bent I can't see? I really can't figure out what to do to get the tracking perfect again and I really can't afford a new head right now. Does anybody have any suggestions? Is it that big of a deal to be out by 1". Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
Oh yeah it's a KDS 450, basicly stock (which is essentially a Trex v2 clone)

Wrecker,

I assume you are adjusting the small links from the mixing arms to the grips. Is that is to course you could try adjusting the links from the swash to the mixing arm. Adjusting these longer links a turn equals half a turn of the links to the grips.

I to own a 450C and set up the head using Finless his vids and my bird tracks perfectly.

Please let us know how things are moving on.

Regards,

Menno

1mm or 1 degree off? On a 500 and up 1 degree wouldn't make much of an issue but on smaller birds with smaller blades it may cause a little vibe / wobble. Could be your blades or bent blade grips. Finless bob has a blade tracking video that's very helpful.

Default 1" off

Ive used the finless vid and the tracking 101 thread, I used to set it up no problem only recently I am having this problem. The blade grips are new, I'm using pretty cheap RCX fiberglass blades could that be it. I tryed setting the pitch to the individual blades within half a degree but then the tracking was off 3.5 - 4". I can get it within an inch then it goes marked blade from top to bottom with one turn on the short links but then one turn back makes no change the second turn makes the marked blade go back 1" above. It makes no sense! I can't figure out what's wrong, VERY frustrating

Have you checked the blades? Check them to see if they are straight. If your blades are twisted you will not be able to track them.

Make a video of your problem ( Full rotor head) and show the blades roots

Be sure to check your dampeners as well, I spent ages tracing down a tracking issue. Replacing the dampeners fixed it in an instant.

good chance the blades are crap. Get a decent pair and see how tracking is.

Replace the dampers even if you think they're good.

Make sure you're at 90 all around

Just because you didn't crash on the head doesn't mean it's not bent. Pull the blades off and spin up to about mid-stick. Look that the stopper hole and see if it wobbles.
