That is a direct response to the document from the FAA, which I read in full yesterday, and is why I posted what I did about FPV.
If you want to read the whole FAA proposed ammendments, a discussion document only, there is a big thread now in the main forum. It has attracted a lot of attention and many replies already. Oh, here is the document. Cheers Sutty

The FAA is hoping that if they can sneak this thru it will negate a law passed in 2012 protecting hobbiests from this kind of bullshit.
They don't have a prayer. This has already gone viral. People signing petitions. It's another attempt of a regulatory agency making up their own rules as they go along. What good does it do to close the barn door after all the animals have got out? People die smoking, but cigarettes are still legal? Truth is, most of what they have to say I agree with. Any idiot flying a model los or otherwise in a crowded area or around an airport should be in trouble, I agree, but unless it violates restricted air space, should the FAA be the enforcment?

No, to put it simply Tom. I agree with you about airports and crowds as well. What are they going to say next you must take off and and land at airports, runways and heli ports only. These are the rules all other aircraft must follow as well as gain clearance for takeoff/landing?
