Default X7 Still In The Game

16 March, 2012 I bought the X7 when it first released. Almost 8 years later I got my 4th X7 in the mail today. Best designed 700 ever IMO.

Hope there's some peeps still out there flying them. You don't see many on the Classifieds, so they must be in people's hangars.

I basically have the same story only with my X5's love that heli and its design. I am looking forward to getting an NX7 down the road. I am very happy that GAUI keeps their design and just improves and updates the original as the time goes on. I cant even imagine how profitable the company is for them now because of this.

Lots of people flying X7, including me!

I have the NX7 as well, I love them both and I love that they share so many parts. I added the CF boom cover to my X7, I really like the way it looks with the boom cover, and it helps with orientation visibility.

Default X7 Boom Cover

I keep asking myself why I don't try the boom cover. I may have to do that on one of mine.

I just got a 2nd hand X7 FZ not long ago. My first 700 size and I'm impressed. Only a couple of basic hovering/get used to it/check things out flights so far and it was pretty windy but I'm looking forward to a lot more as the weather improves!

Kinda wish they would have released a belt kit or it at some point. With how the auto rotation gear is designed (same as the X3) then a conversion is possible by just replacing the crown gear with a pulley and the tail unit.

EDIT: Looks like someone designed a conversion but you have to make it yourself:

The crown gear/torque tube is the Gaui stamp of the X7 and what makes it such a beast. Tareq still flies it and it's the sweetest design ever.

For some of us a torque tube is a deal breaker. All torque tubes have some amount of runout and vibrate more than belts.

Unless you tap the tail rotor blades on ground, the X7 is as smooth as butter. Belts loosen, need a tensioner, need a certain tension, require an "Oxy"/larger style boom for proper diameter tail pulley, and Align/Gaui have been running TT since day one. No thanks on a belt for me; last belt driven tail I had was an Align 450 in 2009.

BUT.... I do like the looks of the Specter 700. BLASPHEMY! Lol

Love belts...A little forgiving...also love TT
In turn BOTH need to be setup correctly.....
Can TT strip gears with non contact YUP
A belt will slip and let you know
And yes gaui has a belt driven model... My X6
They never wanted to build one, so I had to
Fly's awsome........
