Hey Night - nice work there and all thanks to Kregan as well. I want to build one - what do I need? Any chance of a full parts list? - please....

If you want the 600 class...

You'll basically require a bare bones 600 kit (nitro for the 3rd bearing)

If your stripping another bird down for parts..

Motor mount
Main shaft bearings
3rd bearing from a 600 nitro
1 bearing block
Boom block
Bottom plate
Landing gear
What ever electronics are of your choice

If your planning on mounting a camera like I did... suggest you contact Kelly about the combination motor mount / camera mount

You got the yellow skids at your hardware store? Are they real heli skids or what were they originally for ?

You mis-understood..

I purchased the stock material from the local hardware store and whip up what ever size landing gear that I need..

My 600e came with a lower/3rd bearing block? Did they remove that in later versions?
Bearings: http://www.readyheli.com/H60031-Bear...0_p_33290.html

Also is the 600 tail block the same as the 700 tail block? I might make one also.

600 ESP did not have the 3rd bearing block assembly, but the nitro version did as well as the older E version.

600 tail boom block is longer than the 700 block..hence the reason for having to shorten the boom in order to get the correct length for the 700 torque tube.
And the 700 block is wider

Job got me working 7 days a week for the next 2 months at least so play time is limited.

Just got the camera adjusted to correct for the tilt during flight.

The one piece mount is working like a charm

Hopefully I can try it out when I get home after work if there is still some daylight left.
I did find the sweet spot for HS @ 1725 and got the 750 tail gyro holding solid.
On the down side..the 3G is sadly lacking, I will need to swap it out when I have time.

Hopefully get a short video up tonight, both on board and from the ground.

Ok I think this proves The KFrame is a viable AP setup for 600 and 700 class ...
3 different cameras all show the same results clean vibration free raw footage
Though the FBL unit will have to be swapped out for a better unit
Even the solid mount proves to be a charm in the worse conditions..

Now thinking I may stretch it one more time to 800 and start work on a solid mounted gimbal.

Kelly get your mill warmed up

I love it!

I did a composite upper frame set and posted a pic in the other thread. It is .0625 so I think it would be to wobbly for a camera setup but I think a .1250 thick set of upper and lower frames might be a good option but

I think I would have to move the support next to the motor to get the larger Scorpion your using to fit but that is an easy fix.

The aluminum still looks much cooler! :-)

We need to discuss a born design 700 with a rigid gimbal mount

+1 nightflyer.....

Wishlist for such a build......perhaps we can brainstorm here and help the design process...??

1. All electronics placed under or behind the mainshaft.
2. Belt driven maingear.
3. Bearing support on both sides of any moving shaft.
4. rigid front mount system should still be able to be removed from the heli. This helps with transport, storage and minimizes the replacement commitment should something get bent, twisted, or a different rigid front mount, etc.
5. good support of upper frames to take load of a 800mm stretch.
6. room for batteries in line with mainshaft (as much as possible) to avoid having to move them to the tailboom.
7. room for ESC mounting in the airflow from main rotor.
8. removable, replaceable / swappable main motor mount. Leaving room around the motor to mount the largest or smallest of motors without modification.

I could go on and on...but I want to give the chance for others to chime in on there wishlist.....feel free to add or subtract...

I can live with the basic design very easily, it proved itself without any trouble.

As to your wish list...

Item #1. With the addition of a "equipment shelf" piggy backed on to the tail boom section, this can easily hold the Rx, FBL etc...
A simple secondary mount tray can added behind the anti-rotation bracket for additional mounting ( I place my gyro on the one I made )

Item #4.. I have been tinkering with a Pan / Tilt version of the exact same RIGID mount that Kelly made for me.
Only requirement is relocating the ESC from its present location which I can do as the design is at present.

Item #5...Only thing I might add are a couple of frame braces in order to go to 800.
As mine stands right now with a set of laminated lower frames, It is quite rigid.

Item #6... Depending on if a person decides to stretch to 700 or 800 and what camera is used, the battery location need not change.

Item #7... The ESC can be mounted on the side frame if cooling is an issue or if you notice in the video I have installed a stiffener plate between the rear lower frames that will nicely accept an ESC.
A mini 5V cooling fan can also be added to the ESC if there is a heat issue.

Item #8 ...This has already been addressed with the new rigid mount to allow fitting the Scorpion 50 series motor, granted this is on a modified 600 design and I did machine off some excess material in 2 spots... for a born on 700 this should not be an issue.

One item I would like to see, considering this is a DTS design are a set of servo spline supports.

Hi Guys,

I have a cad drawing of the 700 Nitro but not the 700 E. Do any of you have some broken frames you could mail me if I pay shipping? A broken tail case would also be nice.

Lower Frame half's are fairly easy to draw and cut. If a better layout for equipment can be sketched up I can transfer it into cad and email it to you for review.

I have a question about the 700 Swash, is it larger then the 600 or are the ball links just longer? I will need to order one and draw it up in order to get the servo's spaced properly.

And speaking of serov's the reason I stayed with the 600 with the K-Frame was because I thought a 700 was to large to do direct servo to swash? What are you thoughts on that?

Here is of a picture the upper composite frame set. I need a tester, I don't have enough parts to test build and fly another machine ;-)

The 700 swash is larger than the 600 and also uses a 12 MM main shaft compared to 10MM on the 600.
Accordingly bearings are also larger
.

You might consider 2 other options..

1) An adjustable motor mounting.m ( slotted holes in the frames)
2) A pinion support for the motor

( Side note... keep the 3rd main shaft bearing designed into the frame set )
And speaking of serov's the reason I stayed with the 600 with the K-Frame was because I thought a 700 was to large to do direct servo to swash? What are you thoughts on that?

There are 700 DTS frames sets so it is a viable design, though servo supports will help greatly in off setting the load stresses on the servos

Here is of a picture the upper composite frame set. I need a tester, I don't have enough parts to test build and fly another machine ;-)

I believe I have enough in spares to put together one more 600 class, did you beef up the frames or are frame stiffeners required?

Default Can't leave well enough alone..

600 designed...

700 stretched.....

But there is nothing like a 800 to get the blood pumping

And outfitted with a new Hero HD,.

If the rains stops going to try to setup the HS.

Just as a size comparison...
