I took out my 600N after 2 months on the shelf. After opening the back plate up, I noticed surface rust on the crank, rear bearing and the surface of the cylinder liner.
Will this affect the performance of the engine? I took it out for one flight and it seems alright, but some of the rust is still there. I am guessing the piston ring is a bit rusty too because its a little 'sticky and not as smooth as before. Any advice is appriciated |

rust on the back of the crank happens from sitting, as long as there is no rust in the race of the bearing and if you have rust inside the liner you can pull it out and get some 0000 steel wood to clean it up what fuel are you using

To keep rust to a minimum you have to perform the "After run
ritual" I've done thise for 5 years whith great results like not replacing the rear bearing for 3 years. Empty your tank Run the engine to get rid of most of the fuel Then shoot some WD40 in the carb apen trotle and crank it 2 shoots will do |

And a shoot of MOBIL1 sintheric spray or alike to keep lubed at firs
start. If you're storing it for a long time give it an extra shoot every week to three 'Couse WD40 evaporates. Enjoy your nitro machine!!! And put an air filter per OS http://www.osengines.com/faq/faq-q688.html |

I've had very good experience in using ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) as an after-run oil for my nitros. Never had issues of rust or engine locking up even after years of storage
