OK i just copied it and will paste it.
About 5 years ago i was into RC buggy's but i got out of it as a kid (8-12 years old) my dad use to get me a RC car for Christmas just about every year. For the last few weeks i have been looking on the web for info on maybe getting into a heli let me tell you where i am so far. 1. I have always used JR radios and have always had great luck with them so i kinda like the 11X radio from JR 2. I have always used O.S motors and have always had great luck with them so i think that is the motor i would want for my heil (55HZ-H with the optional PowerBoost Pipe) is the motor that i like. 3. I am really leaning towards a raptor titan se 50 4. As far as the servos and gyro go for heil i don't know anything This is my starting point guys any info would be great i am ok with spending the extra $ to get a good product i would imagine you get what you pay for in this sport. Thanks |

may I suggest the following
Trex 600LE (Flybarred version for starters) this heli comes with good servos and gyro, and it is eccpm which most people prefer over mechanical mixing. Your OS engine choice is an excellent one! You can't gwrong with JR! The new 9503 is very popular right now, and it is based on the 9303 which has been around a while and has proven to be reliable. hope this helps, whatever you do, get a good sim and some help from the locals. Brian

the Trex is the most popular line of helis on the planet right now, you can get parts almost anywhere. A flybar is a rod that has paddles mounted on it to help make the heli more stable. You can see it in photos, it is perp. to the main blades on the head.

You have many questions and rightly so.
I would suggest reading these forums to get an idea of what people like/dislike, learn about the different helis, radios, electronics etc.. If you can locate a club in your area that would be a benefit. You can personally ask and see what the locals are flying and get some advice as well. After all of that and you are still interested it would be a good idea to buy Phoenix flight sim. This will give you a better idea of the challenge you are up against and if you are willing to dedicate time to learning this awesome hobby of RC helicopters.

Make sure you watch all the "BASICS" Finless videos and any that pertain to your future heli!

Hey newguy, welcome to helifreak!! I'm pretty new myself (2 months) and I LOVE IT!! As far as simulators, I use phoenix which I think is really good:
http://www.phoenix-sim.com/welcome.htm Also, you'll be able to use your own tx with it. I would definitely recommend a trex 600, it's a sexy machine!! I started with a trex450 pro and I now have a trex 600 esp. The great thing about Align (the company who makes the trexs) is that you can find parts anywhere and there are not too expensive. Go flybarless if you can afford it BUT make sure you have someone look over your set up, programming. Good luck,

Thanks slyster!! I don't want to overwhelm myself i may loose interest in this sport. I understand there is a lot to be learned and will take some time to learn but i have to start somewhere. It looks like a good number as far as money goes is around 2 grand to get started. I already have the radio and motor picked out and i think i know what heli i want. I really need to find out where people meet up and fly around hear i think i can learn alot going that route. I have flow a little 4 channel heli i got and i have to go dig it up out of the basement it was one of those cheap o's on e-bay it was like 200 bucks but i did pretty good flying that thing

Thanks VertigeV i should have some build pictures soon as i think i am going ahead with the trex 600le flybarless. I still have one question with the trex kit i know it comes with some servos but i think i read you need a throttle servo? Is that true
