I'm starting with the 730mm blades on my 770, even with the narrower blade they should still give me more lift than the 753mm 2 blade setup I am using at the moment.

Kyle commented that the flight performance and pop with 3 blades at lower head speed felt as good as the 2 bladed head at higher head speeds.
Since the Tri-blade head has different dampening than the other heads, I'm assuming they don't recommend longer blades due to blade flex and dampening. If you really tighten the dampening up, maybe... But I certainly wouldn't risk it. They set the recommended limit for a reason.

Agreed...too risky for a bird this expensive. I guess i will have to purchase either the 730mm or 750mm tri- blade sets....BLACK FRIDAY sales!!

I'm planning on running the 730 f3c blades at about 1500-1600 rpm, the extra blade and the increased wieght of the f3c set should make it a great 3d machine for uber smooth slow mo flying.

That is a really good point, it looks like the mainshaft to grip distance on the HPS3 head is a bit bigger than the standard headblock so that will mean the disc will be even bigger than the equivalent 2 blade setup with the same blade length. So in my case the 730mm blades will give me a disc nearly as big as the 753mm blades even without taking the extra blade into account. That could be why they don't list the 770 blades, they are already close to the tail blades with the comp edition due to the bigger damped tail, you may just run out of room with the HPS3 head.

Any chance you can measure the centre to grip hole for the standed head vs the HPS3 please?

I get about 88.5 from the centre of the head to the centre of the blade grip bolt on my 770 comp and my old 700 so I guess the new head is 4 to 5 mm wider.

That would explain the limit of blade length to 750mm max. I really should open my HPS 3 head.... it is just sitting in the box. I don't see the point until i have the blades for it.

Does anyone know where to get the SAB 730mm tri blade set? The ONLY place I have seen listed is WOH in Germany and they seem to be out of stock.....anywhere else?

The blade sets should be rolling out soon. I think SAB has been very busy as usual with several launches… 570, Urukay, HPS2, Carbon Edition kits and 380. That's a lot to do in 1 year.

Maybe we need to meet in Dubai as I have the blades but not the head.

I ordered the blades from the local SAB blade distributors and they came with the last order they made, so as Alex said they should be becoming available at retail outlets soon.

So was thinking about getting the three blade tail on a black Friday deal which I'm sure I can somewhere but was planning on getting from helidirect but are now out of stock. Got a feeling a lot of popular stuff will be "out of stock" before the actual sale starts.

Has anyone had trouble with using the 3 blade blade holder? I am still waiting on my head but one of the guys I know had his fitted and flying on his Comp 700 on the weekend but with the 690 SAB Blacklines he couldn't get the two outside blades to fold back far enough for the (separately available) 3 Blade blade holder to work. He ended up having to remove a blade for transport.

I picked up one of the blade holder and should have the head and tail this week so I can complete the setup and see for myself but this was one of the key design features I was after. Hopefully it works with the 730 Blackline blades.

Yes, and it doesn't work well. You can squeeze in the blades in the holder but it does not fit well on the boom then.

I have never done a setup with a 3 blade head before. I'm using a VBar and VBar Control.
Anyone who has any ideas on how to do it right?
