Hmm... I would have thought that ETL would decrease the amount of battery being used. But this theory come from collective pitch heli experience, which may not be translating to fixed pitch multirotor.
I think we have another mode of testing to do!

Testing continues, put on a 10 minute timed flight with a 6 lb payload, using only 42% of the available battery.
I've now installed 18" props on each motor, and flew again for 10 minutes with similar results. However, at the end of the flight, one of the lower motors was VERY hot at the base. So I'll be replacing it and redoing this test. I expect that the heat generation (whatever the cause) was using up some of the battery

Leave that motor in place and strap a couple bratwurst to it. You can snack after you fly.
