Default BeastX Updater How To-Short Version

Just updated to V2 on the BeastX and it was fairly simple, but I found the BeastX version a bit hard to read.

This is for Windows

1. Download the updater and 2.0 software(.zip).
2. Install the updater.
3. Goto: Start/All Programs/BeastX/Install Driver and follow instructions
4. Open Device Manager(Start/Right click My Computer/Properties/Hardware Tab/Device Manager Button), plug in the USB dongle. It should appear as follows:

5.Open the 2.0 firmware zip file and double click the BeastApp icon, select "open file", the updater will automatically open with the 2.0 file inserted into the "Update File" field.
6. Connect lead from USB dongle to BeastX SYS port paying attention to polarity.
7. Remove main blades from the blade holder and open them if they are folded. **After the unit has been updated it will initialize whether it sees a Tx signal or not.** Power on the BeastX, you do not need to wait for initialization, the updater only needs power to the unit to update.
8. Click the "Refresh" tab in the updater window. You will see the current version of your BeastX unit appear in the bottom field.
9. Click the "Start Update" tab. Are you sure? Yes
10. You have now updated your BeastX. Enjoy!

You WILL need to re-set up after installing this update.

Great write up, seems petty simple. Have you flown much on the new software and noticed anything improving? I think my 700 flies so well now I'm not sure I'm motivated to set it up again.

I think he means "don't power it up with the blades folded back and stuck in the blade holder"

Argh, I'm going nuts!

I cannot get the frikkin beast recognised....

Using the Mac software, I've installed the driver separately as instructed, then run the beast updater software... power up the beast with the cable connected to the sys port, then once powered up i plug in the usb to the macbook.

It won't find the beast though... anyone else had the same issue and solved it?

EDIT - done... had to go back in time and install older drivers from their first update post. Perhaps the new driver doesn't work with the old USB2SYS card? odd...

Default Microbeast not installed yet how to get power to it?

Okay, I have a new Microbeast that I have not installed yet. I want to update it and only learn the latest firmware. I was hoping I could just plug a receiver batt into one of the ports for power. In the diagrams in the manual it looks as though they want power going in through the SYS port. Since this port is needed by the USB cord where do I plug in the batt? I assume its like any receiver and power can go in any port. Correct? Thanks!

Edit- okay I read a little more and I learned that the AUX/PIT/RUD port can NOT take power. So that port is out. What about the rest as a place to plug a batt in?

On my setup, the MB gets power from the Aileron and Elevator leads between the receiver and MB. I have a third power lead going into the Sys port, but I had to disconnect that for the USB cord. I just powered up my receiver like normal and power passes through to the MB.

Okay, yes the manual indicates that the Ail/CH5 is also a power supply port. I'll give that a try. Thanks!
