Default What happens to a 308duo during a power outage.

Curiosity kills the cat.

The other day I was charging with my 308 duo. When a power outage occurred at my house the charger did not skip a beat. But I did watch the charge amps drop to 0 pretty quick.

Why did the charger not shut down? Did the batteries being charged keep it powered (sort of backfeeding power? I was confused when it happened

Thanks.

Yep the batteries attached keep the charger powered.. I noticed that a few times with one of my deep cycles jumper cable alligator clips fall off.

Theoretically could this "backfeed" of power damage a PSU?

Should I just accompany a UPS power backup battery with my charging case setup when I charge?

Thanks for the reply

I have seen this reported before. But I tested my 308Duo, and it shut down when I disconnected power with a LiPo attached. I forget if I was charging during the test.

What do you mean, with the UPS battery? UPS->PS->charger? Maybe if you had a lot of outages. I have never done that, myself. You'd still likely need to stop the process manually after the outage, as the UPS would not run forever, if doing a powerful charge.

Don't know about the icharger but I remember reading in the PL8 manual not to connect a battery until the charger was powered up and running.

to prevent damaging another Power supply. Not sure if the power spike is what caused it, but still nice to option it out.
