1. I stuffed the front of the canopy with a towel to expand it and then heated it with a hair dryer so that it would take a wider shape. 2. I epoxied two fiberglass doublers inside the canopy where the front frame spacer screws would contact the canopy. 3. I shortened the front frame spacer about 1-2mm and replaced the cap screws and finishing washers with button head screws and plain washers so that the screw heads would not extend as far. Also, I cover the screw heads with plastic tape so they will not dig in to the fiberglass. I also include a photo of my canopy frame cutout.

What really helped me in this case was to cut the frame doubler back, I then used some of these screws to fasten everything up front: Link
And as mentioned above, stuff something between the canopy and heat it up. I think I put two layers of foam tape over the head of the button heads and put the canopy on. Then used a heat gun to warm everything up. With these two mods the competition canopy does fit. It's definitely snug, but if I would have kept pushing with the frame doubler as is, I would have started to crack the clear coat.

Thank you both for the heads up! I bought this heli used and unfortunately there is already some spidering to the coating already. I haven't checked yet to see if that is the reason why but will do so. Thanks! . Right now I'm getting ready to start on the wiring aspect of everything. I got my FBL mount in and my servos installed. Here is a pic that shows as far as I've gotten.

Here is a link to one brand of safe switches:
http://www.perfectregulators.com/Fail-Safe-Switches A few shots of my RX power setup. I have tried various ways of protecting wires and have settled on shrink wrap. It can be heated and positioned then retains its form and looks good year after year. The safe switch is small and properly positioned it clears the canopy and the swash with just enough room to get at the small power switch.

Cool...thank you Tom. I couldn't find any wire locally so I had to order some. I got 14g red but they only had 12g black so I got a few feet of each. If the 12 is too heavy for ground, I figured I can just color another piece of red black or shrink wrap it to look black.

funny, my harness looks almost identical. i make it the same as Tom does. i use 14ga wire all the way back, and put 2 heavy duty leads on the end of it.
the only difference is i run the negative lead under the heli and back up at the nose (to fall out the hole on the canopy), and install an ec3 plug inline for a switch. a switch that wont fail! ec3 don't fail very often!

i did the flat cap screw mod
and shortened my frame spacer too, and was asked to come up with a crank sensor mount, and i had a few prototypes and came up with one, and i needed a Wookong H GPS mount and larger RX and Controller mount for Goblin 700

770
Im in the process of rounding everything up to convert a 770. Carey Shirley is helping me round up kits, etc...
What i need to know, do i order the 770 comp or regular 770 to get the conversion kit to fit? |

On the web site the 770 conversion is only listed as standard, not the comp. Send Carey a message to confirm.
http://store.gas-powered-helicopters...gory-s/125.htm The 770 has large blades for a gas engine, a 300 would be the best choice. What type of flying and head speed are you planning on?

I think the only difference between the 700 comp and 770 comp is the gear ratio.

On the 700, the belt from the motor/engine is wider on the comp which also changes other parts. I would think it is similar on the 770.

Tom, yours are the regular G700's not the comps, aren't they?

.
Tom, i have talked to Carey, unless i am misunderstanding him, he is not sure which 770 the 700 comp conversion will fit. Im aware you are the MAN when it comes to small engines. I only know forward flight so i am hoping the g290rc will be okay until i can upgrade to a trm. It seemed to have no problem swinging 800's on my rex in the past.
If anyone has an idea on info pertaining to which 770 i should purchase, please let me know. Im planning on trying to order at the beginning of the week. TIA guys!!! |

the only difference between the 700 competition conversion and the 770 conversion is the pinion size
