Default Os 105 bad liner locating pin

Doing a routine bearing change on my os 105,when assembling the motor I noticed the split rolling pin that locates the piston liner is actually flush and not locating anything. Should I try and drill this out and replace with a new pin or will the clamping of the head be ok. This must have been a manufacturing fault because I've never had a motor with this issue.

That pin is there to make sure the liner does not move . The exhaust ports need to be lined up , if it shifts some bad things will likly hapen., whether it be loss of power or the engine gernades is anybodys guess., if you have the means try and replce the pin if not just by a new engine case.

Yeah i managed to put the case in the mill at work and drill the roll pin out. Ended up using some 1mm Stanless wire as the pin, was hard to find a 1mm roll pin.

Yes it's possible as long as you could get your hands on a new roll pin.
