Should I run servos at 5.2V or 6.0V?
I'm currently in the last stage of my 500L dominator build, and I wonder about what I should set my Hobbywing v3 Platinum at.
I'm running the stock align DS515M and DS525M servos. As a novice, what would be the best settings? Also, I plug the power from the BEC to the receiver (R3008SB) and a sbus cable to my Spirit fbl? I feel dumber the more I build. Help will be greatly appreciated. |

If the servos are rated for 6V go for it, but I wouldn't lose sleep over running them at 5.2 either.

As a novice, you're probably not going to notice much of a difference with the higher voltage setting.
I know with other setups (not familiar with yours) there are issues with brownouts or whatever if your system can't handle the higher voltage. But if your system can handle the 6v I say do it and forget about it, but if you're unsure if your system can handle it, leave it at the lower setting, I doubt you'll notice a performance difference.

Brown out issues are more associated with running Spektrum Sats direct from an FBL controller. The OP is running a full RX. That said, there is little reason not to run his system at 6V. More RX headroom and better servo performance. He may not notice it but the FBL controller will have more "leverage" controlling the heli.
