Default Align ESC died, Trying HobbyWing FLYFUN 18A

I actually can't say that the original Align ESC on my 250 caused any problems. Over the life of the other electronics (which all died) the ESC seemed to run fine. However, last week the ESC died (my mistake ESC was fine, the TT gear slipped on its shaft making heli go out of control).

I saw a number of possible substitutions with higher ratings. Due to 'brand favoritism' as I have at least ten other HobbyWing ESCs in various cars and helicopters, I wanted to try a HobbyWing ESC in the 250.

The $14 FUNFLY 18A looked like it was the same size and weight as the Align 15A ESC. Initially I thought they might be the same, but the specs are a little different and the programming sequence is different.

The BEC seems less adequate than the Align, but specs can be exaggerated without independent testing.

Align RCE-BL15P BEC: 6V a 3A
HobbyWing FUNFLY 18A BEC: 5V 2A

The Spirit FBL BEC test went fine on multiple trials. I'll try flying with it tomorrow.

Flying around the 250 will suddenly make a pop noise and drop. It recovers every time (so far) but I have stopped flying it. Very windy today so, I suspect the Spirit FBL in stability mode cranks on the servos with each gust, causing brownouts for the ESC. Unlike my Align ESC in the 450, this one seems to recover without wanting to re-do the starting sequence.

I don't want to spend more money on this helicopter, hope they will come out with a 250X and I'll just get a new one.

I'm going to go back to the original ESC and original FBL. I'll put the Spirit in my 550X where I really want it.

The talon 15 is the prefect esc for the 250 IMO, and it's only $25.

I put the Align ESC back in the heli and the problem was still there. Spirit log shows power loss and signal loss to the FBL unit, so it looks like the receiver wire to Spirit is the problem. (BEC/throttle was plugged into the receiver).
