Great skill. Do you think a Gaui 550 does significantly better in the wind than a 450 class? I have a Mini Titan E325.

Thanks,

Looks like you're doing very well for being new to helis. It's taking me a lot longer.

Absolutely flys better in wind and is much more stable.

Well here is a new video I just upload taken 2 weeks ago

Vic's Hurricane 550 (3 min 30 sec)

Notice I am way up high, a skeeerd noob I am. Recently though been much lower, its actually easier to see what is happening to correct the heli before it goes astray. I am still fairly new to flying helis and am hooked like on Helicrack!

Hey Vic! Nice flips!! I am practicing them myself at the moment but mine are really crappy compared to yours. And it feels like my hurre can't flip as fast as yours!!

What Headspeed are you running??

I am at 2250RPM with 515mm HT Blades and 7,5° on cyclic but i allways booging the Engine during a flip!!!

So now i know how you can flip so fast. i put the RCP 500mm Blades on today and the flip rate is a lot faster then with my HT 515 blades!!! may be it is the geometry or the width (chord) but the RCP's fly a lot more Aggressive.

I wouldn't belive what a difference the blades can make if i haden't tested it myself!

Thanks! BTW I have the short tail kit, much better with forward and back flips. The z30 is turning the blades at 2400HS 6s lipo and 2600HS at 8sA123. I flip just fine with 2200 rpm with the Z20, I keep collective to a minimum or it bogs like mad, but no bogging at all with Z30 but flight time is nearly half , I want my longer flight time back... practicing reverse and inverted flights, sure is harder than flips and rolls.

Invert? Now I have to learn to hover again! It just doesn't end!... only on crashes. LOL

I got some great flights in yesterday and only had to deal with some red ants heheh. On the last flight, i flew 2 mins at 90% power, then backed the z30 heli way down to 70% curves and it still had plenty of power for 3 more minutes of punch outs, flips and some less intense flying. This clip is of the last 3 mins of one of the flights at 70%. It was taken with my junk cell phone video cam. I would have had more video, but my camera operator (11 year old daughter) wanted to ride scooter and play video games instead lol. This video clip cost me some ice cream at dairy queen! It's hard to find good help..

Hi y'all !

I'm almost done with the setup of my Hurri...
The motor (Z20A 980) and lipos were very very hot, the motor was not running fast enough I guess... I have now a 50T front gear with a 16T and it's just great !
Still the belt tension to adjust, and the pitchgauge I use is little small which makes it not accurate enough on an heli this big...

Anyway, here's a video of my 4th flight with the Hurri on a very windy evening !

Default Nose in Hover Practice

OK guys, I reached the point on my heli learning curve where the lack of nose in ability was holding me back. So after a few attempts of trying to turn the nose in during FF that ended badly I received advice that I should go back to the trainers and do Radds again but nose in.

So thats what I have done. This video is after a week of focused nose in practice. I am pretty chuffed to have come this far. Today I actually managed to slowly piro on the spot with control.

YEA!!

Nose in RC Helicopter Hovering Practice - Gaui Hurricane 550 (2 min 19 sec)

Cheers
Graeme

Nice Job!

I'm not sure I have the cahones to start off nose in....you did really good in just a short time....

You'll be doing "Tic Tocs" in no time.....

Isn't it a blast.....even just hovering in the back yourd ?

Thanks Mate!

Yea starting off nose in sure was heart in mouth stuff initially. I just went right back to basics, and did a bit of Radds again. It was just like learning to hover all over again. It wasn't long though before I had it up & hovering. The collective had to be dropped a few times!!

Mmm tic tocs hey? I'm sure I'll get there eventually!

Hovering in the backyard - that was the main reason I wanted an electric heli. The main recommendations seem to be: "Get a 50 nitro" no way I thought & I'm glad I stuck to my guns. I would be lucky to have 20% of the flight time If I had gone nitro.

Cheers
Graeme
