Default FPV flight goggles or screen

sorry asked this in the wrong sub menu. Which do most of you prefere using a screen or goggles? I have a screen right now and it does not bother my eyes its like a video game. Are goggles very hard on ur eyes and harder to fly with ?

I used to fly on 10" netbook, but it was unreliable (if there was something happening on that PC in the background the image would drop framerate). I recently bought a 7" car monitor and it's great! I attached it to my transmitter so it's near to my eyes. It's way brighter than my netbook screen. I still have to make a view box / light shade for it for the sunny days, though.

I have never flown with goggles but I still think I would prefer a screen (at this point). The problem with goggles is not being able to watch the heli with your eyes. Being able to do that is absolutely critical in order to land on a tight spot. I usually fly off farm roads and such and landing on a 0,5 meter wide strip of gravel surrounded by tall grass is a challence even at third person view. Let alone FPV! Seeing the surroundings is a positive safety issue in normal flight, also.

If one would fit a head tracking FPV system with goggles to a heli, that would be a different story. I thing a moving camera would help landing alot! I hope someone builds such a system soon and I'll get to try it out.

Default Have a commitment ceremony with FPV

You have to commit to FPV or don't. Using a screen is going to keep you from really doing FPV. Once you don the goggles and fly, you have gone all the way. With the screen, you are going to keep looking at the heli instead of looking from the heli.

You can have a screen for others to enjoy your flight but you HAVE to wear goggles. Just one mans opinion.

For me I use the monitor for heli flights so I can easily look up from it for take offs and landings. You do need to stay committed to it though as you fly like jrohland stated . I do prefer the goggles with a head tracker on planes since the whole flight is done in FPV...take offs and landings .
