What goes in my first crash kit?
Just got a 450 pro FB as my first CP heli. What do you recommend to put in my crash kit first?
Thanks! |

Wooden blades Main shafts Feathering shafts Main gears Fly-bars Booms Torque tubes, and tail drive gears (if it's a TT tail) Tail blades Tail shafts Landing gear Servo gears Screw set Training gear setup would help. And remember...Throttle hold is your friend. Good luck! Steve

Thanks! What are the wooden blades for?
I have training gears but I've been spending a lot of time in the sim so I can avoid needing them. |

Add these. And a little build advise.
Ball link and head link kit. A and b links. The 450 pro has a nasty tendency to strip front torque tube gears. Setup the heli so they are easy to remove. I actually put the receiver on the swash line up block and put the gyro on the lower frames. This way the boom block can be removed without a frame removed. And the servos likewise. Rough up the surface of the boom where it goes into the tail box and this will make sure it stays in place. Get a second torque tube bearing and grommet. Mount it on the opposing side of the tt and this will prevent the tt from vibrating. Other then that enjoy. Get a flybar lock. It will keep you sane. |

They take the brunt of the crash better then CF blades, transmitting less force to the rest of the head.
Not trying to jinx you or be mean, being new to this, sim time or not, that bird will go in and wooden blades are cheaper and cause less damage. And remember be quick on throttle hold if you run into trouble. Put the training gear on for the first flight until you know your setup is stable, cheap insurance. Keep us updated as to your progress. Have fun! Steve

Helidirect for most things and also amain. Heliproz.com has a nice parts finder on their website. It shows a blown up view of your heli, just click the part you want and it will link you to it. Very easy for finding parts when you're not sure what you need.

A credit card, and 2 days, then you can get what you actually need after the crash assessment.

Some people don't want wait for parts. I have crashed and fixed it the same day. I usually stock up on crash kits when there is sale.

+ 10000 Everyone crashes a little differently, in time you will find what you go through the most and tailor your inventory accordingly. For instance, some fliers "taco" batteries and blow out canopies, I never have but have broken many landing gears and vertical stabilizers. Steve

I prefer to just order what I need after a crash.
The only exception being TT gears as you can just break one gear in a bad landing. Having parts ready for a crash makes me feel like a crash is expected. I try hard not to crash. |

I had a crash last month and had the bird back in the air in less than an hour. Torque tube, and landing gear was all that was needed, but that's beside the point. I have plenty of parts to do a rebuild except for frame pieces, no spare main head block or main grips. I have spares of most everything else including bearings. |

The best crash kit.
First off a box of kleenex. You will cry.
Next you need whiskey, to drown your sorrows. Last a credit card. Order the parts while you are still drunk so you cant remember how much it cost to fix.
