About one and half month ago i sent my Helijive into Kontronik for firmware update. After that i used mode8 with VStabi governor and Pyro 700-52. I was very satisfied by the performance of this combination. But i was still little worried how may that small motor handle so much power.
This weekend i spooled up my TDR and went into hover, pumped collective and everything seemed fine, after that i flipped TDR on the back and i noticed motor cut off. I was able to flip back my TDR and hard landed into grass. On TDR i have only broken one skid (skid plate, skid, one screw), tail fin and two links. Jive led does not indicated anything. After that i noticed that i cannot rotate motor can freely. After replugging battery pack Helijive blinks 2 times. With another motor Helijive still blinks 2 times. In Pyro are detached 3 magnets. I used this motor for one and half season without any issues, it is possible that this caused mode8 or simply Pyro 700-52 cannot hold so much power because mechanical construction limits? Or what may cause that? I hope that Kontronik will warranty this without issues. |

You did run counterbearing,?, first time I've heard of this with pyro, usually its when bearings go bad then the bell can hit the stator and destroy mags. If under warrantee k should replace I'm sure. Running without counterbearing its also possible as shaft deflects quite a but under power

Yes, i always use counter bearing with Pyro in my TDR.
I know about more Pyro's with detached magnets but all fallen brand new (insufficient final control). Is there a chance that this may cause ESC? |

On the other hand it is not clear whether a bad commutation failure ripped out the magnets or something else (mechanically). Tom

You are pointing that mode8 implementation is not safe if is not handled correctly? VStabi log is clear. I think that it will not be possible to determine clearly what failed sooner. I dont think that something mechanicaly detached magnets, because detached magnets are not in a row and there is no clearly visible any mechanical damage. When that happend there was no strange sound, only simple cut off and led on the Helijive signalised nothing.

I have 2 little hops on a brand new heli jive and pyro 700 52-L
I'm using mode 4 What is the safest mode to use I can't afford another problem My new PowerJive w a Compass 4926 failed after a couple of test flights and has been sent back to Germany. Surely it will be replaced but I bought the new stuff to get my new heli flying without waiting another month Or more on the word from Kontronik
