Default What Plane to Buy

I fly fixed pitch and collective pitch helicopters, Blade Nano, 4503d and Sr120.

My son has a Hobbyzone Champ which i have no trouble flying.

I am looking to get my own plane and are unsure on either the UMX Carbon Cub, UM Trojan T 28 or the Super Cub.

I have a Spektrum Radio which I will use.

Which of the above plane should I purchase or is there another. They are all around $140 to $170 Australian.

Cheers

there all fun, not sure what super cub you mean if the all white bigger one ild stay away as its brushed and doesnt have much power but the umx planes are great.
Carbon cub has a brushless motor and run on 2 cell its got lots of power the t28 uses single cell and brushed motor that needs to be replaced every 50-100 flights or so they do wear out

I'm leaning to the T28

The UmMCarbon Cub has the flying lights which also suits as it is usually stiller in the evening.

I have loaded up my Helicopters with lights.

The t28 is a fun plane, assuming you're talking about the bigger version? Not the umx?

I installed some lights on one of my scratch builds. They looked pretty cool in the evening, you could flip the gyro switch and they would change the pattern of how they blink on and off. It was only like $12 at hobby king. Cant see them in the day at all

Lot of people love the AS3x its nice but not something you must to have, people need to learn w/o help from these new great devices... But I have flown them all there all fun. i do like the lights on it. and being brushless.
ild like to build a brushless T-28

This is the one I try!

umx 1SChamp - easyier to fly, colorful easy to see
umx 1S T-28 - even if lower wings it is really easy to fly, no AS3X in wind is battlefield
umx 1S Corsair midnight blue soo detailed ! Harder to fly, look so nice, no AS3x
umx 1S P40 Warhog look nice but the most heavy warbird, keep the throttle or it will nose dive!
umx 1S Spitfire nice magnetic battery hatch, heavy but not that bad wings are tiny broke easily, was in rebate 70
umx 1S Mustang P-51 very light, fly beautifully!! My personnal choice! Wings are tiny crack/broke easily
umx 1S ASK-21 glider, with an engine is a beast! The bigger umx and stay up to 15min in the air

umx 2S SS Carbon Cub, nice flap/light, heavy in crash, fragile but very easy to fly
umx 2S Beast wow look very nice and solid in the air, very fragile wings
umx 2S Sbach (as3x) cut in the air, very tiny front end be careful, very bright color, much better to tow than cub
umx 2S red Mig jet, nothing less than the Habu but a very little bit harder and slower to fly
umx 2S Habu yellow, wow awsome cut in the wind, I would say begineer plane!! Tiny nose

No mention of the UMX Yak??

That thing is an absolute blast. My other UMX planks are now collecting dust.

no mention of it because it is same shape as the Sbach but a foam cockpit and close to 200 bucks doesn't seem like a god deal for me, the 10 times larger new Eflite Yak is 299$ BNF

SS Carbon Cub and Yak are very good but very very overpriced

I have both the UMX, and CZ Yak, both are a blast to fly.
I haven't flown the sbach, but the Yak is the only UMX I fly any more. Even the Beast has been shelved.

The UMX mosquito is a great little plane, cut my RC teeth on this one
Got the Sbach, really like it, but glue a couple carbon rods on each side of the battery tray to re-enforce the nose

Just ordered the new Pitts, should be fun

the carbon cub suck in much over 3 or 4 mph. you can lose control of it and it does not like to turn into the wind. and really it wants a calm day. crackd up the wing the first little breeze got me second time it was in a spyral I couold not get it out of and into a parking lot killed the wing and fuselage.

My carbon cub flies quite well in up to 15km/h breeze. You must have your cg sorted and gusty conditions affect it.

Due to the small size i lose orientation when it gets over 150m away.

Thinking about getting the archer.

I really like the challenge of the flat fomies. they are more maneuverable like a heli fly in small area's and hold up to crashes. but they can be nice and challenging to fly.
