Compass 7HV and the Kosmilk
Guys,
Just wanted to share a picture of this unit. It's the best money I've ever spent in the hobby(next to the 7HV)....I recently sold both my Goblins, and sticking to the 7HV's. I pulling this unit out of the Goblin, and installed it and the the Scorpion 4530 into the 7HV..it should be awsome...Have a 4535-550LE coming in the very near future as well ,but I think there comes a point where enough power is enough power I finally have the ulitmate heli in this one...helix main gear, new metal tail, bullet proof power system... Thanks to Compass for making a great model..

Jim glad to see you switch back to the 7HV. You have the perfect setup now IMO.
You should bring it out to the Collective RC fun fly in OKC Sept 7!! |

Holy Smokes . The ultimate ESC, IMO at the moment. Not knocking the YGE either. Both are top shelf. I love the integral SD card reader feature on the Kosmik. To have Jlog2, it cost me like $150 by the time it was shipped, so that was a signficant cost addition, but well worth it in the longer term. It's added features at times like this that create value. I hope you enjoy it. I can't hardly imagine how it will feel in the air. I'd think you'd want really high headspeed to truly extract the power. Haha - it's the heat shrink bolted connections that says it "means business". LOL! Cool.
One comment if I may: I spoke to Marcel at the Kontronik tent while at IRCHA. (I think that was his name). I showed him my setup. I had experienced a power down on Friday which I was trying to analyze. He told me to shorten my esc leads connecting to the motor. I looped my Jive leads similarly to your Kosmik, but up on top of the tray next to the Jive. He said "there is not advantage" to keeping the excess wire length. I clarified...cut the ESC leads to the motor phases? He confirmed. I was rather surprised. I've NEVER cut ESC leads to the motor. I've run mine like that for over a year now, for what's maybe 150-175 flights without incident, and recorded over 205 amps peaks during flying with no issues. Why did the Jive powerdown? Loose throttle cable to the receiver! LOL!

I got a 3 blink powerdown on saturday at IRCHA. Maybe K does not like our mid-western humidity.

So this was your heli I saw at IRCHA? I wondered who had that massive controller on there.

It's not as pretty as the red anodized case. LOL! Kidding. I think a YGE160 is well capable of controlled insanity in the 7HV as well. I've seen it!

It's as if that ESC was made for the 7HV Look how perfectly it takes up the whole tray. Nice set-up
A bit off topic, and not trying to hijack the thread, but how are YGE users mounting their esc's? I was thinking to use some post for a quad copter, but if there's a ready YGE mounting post set or something please let me know. Thanks.

Scorpion 4530LE motor, 14/14 pitch, 710V2's, and apparently, p#@$ poor collective management!
No, since I've not every been worried about shutting this thing down, I've been really hard on the sticks..everything has it's limits....it was a hard stop/reversal from fast forward flight...and good batteries!!

I've been running Rail 696's and Radix 690 V2's the whole time without any hint of shutdown..Today ,switched to the 710's to give them a try, and it pushed everything over the top....but...man, you should see this thing hook up at 2200HS
I'm in a steep learning curve right now, learning reversals, backward inverted, and etc, so again, I know that I'm not being a very good manager as far as collective goes at this time...it's something that I'm going to have to work on..

Thanks Heathy I used a screw through the front mount and locked it down with a nut then added another nut for height adjustment. Didn't want it bolted down in the event of a smoking failure I can just pull the velcro straps off and slide it off the mount. If the heatsinks are on the top, why is there a...heatsink plate on the bottom??? Nice job btw.
