They said it is not necessary
Apparently it is not an issue on the goblin.

The reason many belt drive heli's have a problem with static is the boom block is made of plastic that is not conductive, this leads to the boom building up a charge. An example was the Protos which had some issues initially but then a conductive boom block was then released, pretty much solving the issue.
In the case of the Goblin, from what I have seen in the pictures so far, the carbon boom has an alloy insert molded into it, and this alloy inserts into a matching piece in the main frame. As these are all conductive peices then a charge is not able to build up and in effect the tail through to the motor mount will be electrically connected. This should mean no major static issues. //Dennis.

What is the maximum blade length that will fit on the 700? Will the SAB 720 FAI blades fit?
//Dennis.

I think SAB need to learn some marketing and release some photos/videos/bits and pieces every now end then to keep interests alive. It's been deserted here and feels like there's not much attention to the thing anymore. Sigh ....

Yeah, they really need to go to marketing school. Imagine, they build their first heli, price at the top end of the market, it sells out two production runs in a matter of weeks. What a bunch of bad businessmen...

Are you kidding? That's exactly what they've been doing. Manual comes out on the 30th. The first production run was 75, and that sold out in about a week and a half. Surely, bad business!

There's plenty of photos and videos already available. You just need to search.

No. The way I understand everything is pushed back to January/February and there will be enough to cover both preorders at that time.

New gear technology
So I received an email today from SAB, explaining the delay in shipment of Goblin 700's. It contained the following excerpt:
"To offer the best performance that can be attained, we have chosen a new gear technology that will allow the SAB Goblin to harness the most brutal brushless power systems available, allowing you to push the Goblin harder & faster than ever thought possible." Can you (goblinhelicopter) explain what exactly the difference is, and how it affects performance? Curious what has changed, and if it may impact what equipment I have chosen and purchased for my 700. Grazie! Cris |
