"Transparent" canopy picture?
I was wondering if any of you have seen or done one of those "Transparent" canopy pictures of your 'abolo. I am just trying to get a visual feel for how much space there is under the canopy.
For those who don't know what I am referring too... I have never done this myself, but I understand the process to be putting a camera on a stative and taking a picture of the Heli with the Canopy installed, then being very careful not to move the heli or camera, take another picture without the canopy. Both pictures are layered on top of eachother in Photoshop or Gimp, each having a transparency adding up to 100% (No canopy 60%, canopy 40%) The result is a picture like this (This is not mine): |

I find them to be very cool!
I just did a quick one of my X5 using my iPhone and a few books as a tripod and it was pretty easy. I used GIMP and simply added a cropped photo if the heli with canopy as a layer with 45% opacity. Now I think I need to do one at a better angle Sorry for the non-'iabolo content... I'm still working on that |

I think I can do something like this. I'll give it a go in just a little while.
OK, this is done without the best lighting but so it goes.

I have my ESC mounted up higher than is strictly necessary because I needed to orient it in a way that is compatible with two different helis as far as the placement of the motor and battery wires.
