Default vibes through the roof

so when i fly my 550l with the canopy on my vibes are 0.3 to 2.0 on the chart which is acceptable but once i take the canopy off and do a test flight the vibes are going crazy 5 to 17 can some one explain this as to what is going on. Vibes are so high that the light blinks green red constant.

If it's mounted up front under the canopy, could it be rotor wash? Is it on foam so it can move? Guessing....Dan

The SK on a gel pad is a tight fit under the canopy on a 550L. I'm guessing the canopy is pressing on the 720 and actually keeping vibes down. Also, +1 on dogbreath for the rotor wash. Surely that has an effect.

On a side note, you might want to rethink the gel pad. On an electric, the vibes are naturally low anyway so there's usually no need to stress about vibes at all (assuming there is no mechanical problem,) I have a close to stock 550L and with just a thin foam pad my vibes are less than 2 always. I always have the canopy on since the heli COG is unbalanced without it.
