Cut out the washer from head gasket sheet bought in automotive store, some sort of high temp papery thing; 50+ flights with no problem.

I just started using Permatex Ultra Copper from any auto parts store (Autozone etc) and it holds very well and is very heat tolerant (to 700 deg)!

What works best for me is either copper or aluminum tape. The copper tape (used in electronics) is best, as its adhesive layer is very thin. The aluminum tape is the stuff used to seal AC ductworks.

Simply take a piece of tape and stick it either on the exhaust port or muffler opening. It helps of course to wipe off the oil first so the adhesive can stick.

Now rub the tape, and you will be able to see indentations of where the port, and screw holes are.

Take the sharpest exacto blade you have and cutout the inner port area and the screw holes.

Then mount the muffler on the port. Take the blade and trim the outer side of the gasket.

Voila, instant sealed muffler. Since it is metal, it stands the heat. Only down side is taking the muffler off can easily tear the gasket, especially after some running time. But still works better, IMHO than sealant etc.

quick UK aluminum gaskets, they withstand the heat and will outlast any permatex or cardboard type gaskets that usually come with mufflers
