Default Both fire safety and temperature control?

So I'm pretty new to the hobby, but very technical. I've been absorbing a bunch of info about proper care of lipos. My question is about storage, both long-term and short term (days, weeks).

I always go back to storage voltage (3.75-3.8) with my lipos either by flying them to that way or using the discharge feature of my charger. I'm strict about the flight timer, which runs currently runs them down to about 3.75-3.8 under load. I'm conservative with fast charging. Now I need to think about storage, ideally it's the same setup for overnight or long term.

For safety, I was thinking about keeping the lipos on the concrete garage floor in either cinderblock or maybe lipos bags and and metal (not air tight) containers. However, it gets hot out there in the summer. So while I'm not sure I want to store them cold, I do want to keep them from getting above 80-90deg. But using a mini fridge or regular fridge means putting them in what is basically a sealed box with a plastic interior, which doesn't feel fire safe.

- How do a reconcile temp controlled with fire safety?

- Do I need to separate lipos from each other? If one "goes off" and I have others in a lipo bag with it, am I risking a much bigger fire?

- In addition to all the plastic in the fridge interior, one of the things I don't like about the fridge is that now I have to keep them in something airtight, that's not a lipo bag or venting metal container. Also warming them up is a pain, sometimes I'll get to fly on short notice during the work week and I want to charge while I'm getting ready and go.

I'm sure there are other questions, but these are the two I'm puzzling over right now. Any insights?

Fires are rare. Especially if you are checking for any unusual self discharge and handling them with care. There is no certainty that you will have a fire.

However, storing them at high temps for a length of time will shorter their life.

You could always put AC in the garage OK, stop laughing. I know a guy that has AC in his garage.

Since I fast field charge (13 mins) with deep cycles.. and many use generators.. I just charge when I arrive at the field and only own just two packs per heli.. this is the wave of the future . I set my timer to end at storage charge (7 mins and 6 mins) and just keep the packs in the helis when I get home and set on garage floor. No more than 90F here in MN and that won't hurt them at storage level.

Makes things SO dang easy and fast.
