Default trex 700 and HK-5020

Yes it fits perfect on trex 700( I have one ). Only problem is the wider spread from the Mounting screws so it needs a different mount. ( KDE only works with 4035 motors )

The outrunning part is in the open part of the trex so no chance that it touches the frame.

good luck

Default Scorpion 5020-450 KV

Made my maiden flight today on a trex 700 LE 3G
I'm shocked, so much power compared to my old actro 32-3 that I'm getting scared. Motor doesn't run hot at all ( its cold after 6 min 3d flying ) Kontronik Jive at 90% gives me 1950 rpm in mode 11 with a 12T pinion. More then enough .

How do you get 1950?

KVxVolts=peak rpmxpinon= / main gear

450x44.4= 19980 x 12 =239760 / 115 = 2084.86957 this is at 100% now take 10% away = 1876.38261.

I think I'm going to try a 13t with the formula less the 10% it will give 2032.74783

Hey its a whole new ball game with this motor, but don't you want to get close to 2000rpm?

Why are you using 44v for your calculation? Most of the newer packs will give you a higher voltage than that under load. Closer to 45.5 which is about right for a 1950 headspeed

Default Scorpion 5020-450 KV and 1950 headspeed

I agree with the theory but I really get that high headspeed so I'm happy.
I also thought I needed a 13T or even 14T for 2000rpm
But I'm happy with the 1950 and 12T

The whole set up is much stronger then my old actro on 2000 rpm
and everything stays cold

Motor stays very cold ( around 40 degrees Celsius ) when doing 3D, The Jive 80 stays cold as well and My flight times are longer then with my old Actro 32-3 / CC combi.

With the right batteries this heli flies like crazy. I never had so much power.
I think they really improved the motor compared to the "old" 4035 scorpions
about 30 flights till now. BTW I use no more counter bearing like I did on my old actro, no problems so far

Assuming similar pitch and rpm settings, can anyone comment on the peak and average current data for the 5020-450 versus a 4035 series motor?

Anybody have some logger files to post?

Thanks,

Ben Minor
