600e DFC - What headspeed...
...are you running? I am thinking 1800, 2050, 2300rpm governed by skookum gov in normal, idle1 and idle2 respectively. Using idle 1 for sport and light 3d and idle2 for harder 3d.

yep
2100in idle 1 and idle 2 is 2310 whitch puts my motor at 94.8% efficiency according to the castle ice 100 software. Im runnin 623 main blade though, you can run higher head speeds with smaller blades, I usually spike around 125A but run around 70A average. hope this helps.

1900 (80% of full power) - for take-off and landing,
2100 (90% of full power) - just to fill the gap, and for my experiments with the pitch curve 2250 (95% of full power) - optimal setting for my Castle, used for 95% of time

I settled on 2200 in idle1 and 2400 in 2. 1900 in normal mode for takeoff/landing. Works pretty well.

I know some guys are saying 2250 with 105mm tail blades, but their kind of close for a DFC. I changed back to the old tail gear ratio with 96mm tail blades and it holds fine for me, but I had a friend fly it, who is a lot better than I am and he said the tail was blowing out. That was at 2250, but I think at 2350 he would of been fine. I only use two IU speeds, even with a DX8. Pos1 is 0, then pos2 2250 and pos3 2350. I like having two positions to have to turn on to turn the motor on. I also have the Autoration enabled on my hv120 turned on and it I hit TH and landed, I wouldn't be able to come out of it with out having 0 on pos1 because my head speed change rate is set to bail out of an auto and if I landed, came out of TH, it would spin up so fast, it would probably tip over.

I just checked and the blades are 105mm. I have read that the DFC heads like more headspeed and I verified this on my 500. Looks like 2200-2300 is the sweet spot for the 600 in mild 3d as per this thread and having flown it more lately. Higher is probably better as you master it or are looking at more aggressivity and lower for sport, smooth flights. I really enjoy flying this bird, very versatile...

Yeah, I like my 600 the most so far. I just put together a 550dfc v3 and its pretty good so far also. I like the power of the 600, but the 550 seems faster even though it has 553mm blades and a 600 boom on it. Good thing they say 550 and 600 on the side because their almost the same looking, lol Next year I hope to put a 700dfc together.

What's the lowest headspeed one can get away with for some medium 3D?
I'd like to have a long flight time, but not at cost of all performance. Should I be shooting for 2000rpms? |

A headspeed of 2000 is fine if you aren't flying hard. With 95mm tail blades and the stock tail ratio I will occasionally fly at 1800 doing easy 3d. Keep in mind though that you won't have tons of power in the tail so be easy on the collective. |

Okey, yeah, I see what you mean. A long flight time would be anything over 7 or 8 minutes I guess, but I would like to get near 10 to 12 minutes which is almost double. When taking it easy with my 500 I can easily get up to 10 minutes while still doing mild 3D.
I guess the 600e pro wasn't really meant for that though and more for a three to six minutes of hardcore 3d flying? :-D |

Over on fpvlab.com there was a guy using a 600EFL Pro as a search and rescue FPV platform. He was getting over 15min flights I think. He had a super low kv motor, changed the gearing, Spin semi-symmetrical blades, and huge packs. Pretty sure his headspeed was around 1400.
