Yes, It's understood that they don't give out inactive numbers if you fail to keep your membership active.

Cranky, your question was answered in your thread that you started... to just echo what was posted, it was said that they print up cards and send them once they get a fair amount of applicants. You may have to wait a few more days, so in the meantime, relax and and enjoy the wealth of knowlege that HF has to offer.

They should tell me that. I shouldn't have to come here to find it out.

That's my point.

In reality, according to the person I spoke to, you have to print your own card now (if you register online). They just send you a .gif containing the ID. Most cards are e-delivered within 24 hours (pending clearance with the merchant account services provider).

The problem was that they, apparently, manually transcribe online orders into the system. And, for me, they typo'd the email address.

Mistakes do happen (if it was the typo) and you were the unfortunate one to get hit that day.

Did you end up getting a temporary card with an AMA number?

Yep. Had to go out and buy cardstock to print it. Then over to Kinkos to get it laminated.

Good. That's a little overkill though... unless you have a habit of not emptying your pockets before you do the wash.

...You watch, your permanent AMA card will probably be in your mailbox Tuesday.

Looking at AMA Safey code, it states that No Model Aircraft should be flown "At a location where model aircraft activities are prohibited", that means all the area parks that I too, therefore AMA insurance doesn't can't be apply?

I believe a 450 would be very close...

The PF program requires a weight of under 2.0 lb and speeds N.T.E. 60 MPH.

My T450 weighs 1.9 lb and (reportedly) can go 70+ MPH.

I think it would be best to call them (1-800-I-FLY-AMA) and ask. They are very friendly folks.

I went with the full membership and got my card today. I will call the AMA though. Thanks for replying!

Unhappy AMA/Permit vs Club at community park

Hi everyone...
Can a club really 'own' a designated area in a community park?

I am in NJ and I just got my AMA Park Pilot membership $30, and the Park Dept Permit to use their field $25. I fly an electric multi rotor copter <2 lbs, <60mph.

The reason why I ask -
I was at the park changing the battery & some man drives up to my car. He says he's part of a local club.
Tells me I need AMA/Permit (ok, check those off list), tells me if he sees me there again he'll call 'someone named Dave, the president' (ok thanks for the threat), disses my machine, has some more time being 100% rude, complains about how expensive it is, and said he'd sit there and wait for me to hit him with my copter so he can basically... you know.

I just want to use the <1 hour I have after work sometimes to relax and play.... do I really need to worry about this retiree seeing me in the park and coming to harass me?

I called the parks department today. She said all you need is AMA and permit. NO TEST NEEDED (is this true?) And just abide by 4 people flying at a time.

I don't know what to do! Please help this lady out!
